Got another idea after a full day of development madness on my job and in need to think on something else.

Why don't make the CS skipping as the votekick? If someone wants skip a cutscene, a request is made to all members, that can:
- agree to skip the CS
- not agree but continue duty
- not agree and exit duty without penalty if skip proposal passed (50%+1)

If proposal passes, everyone skips the cutscene.

This way we save the willing of the most players in the duty, and who wants a story mode can requeue in hope to find a group who accept to see them.

Putting these climactic and epic, but long, cutscenes, on these dungeons is a flawed and obsolete design to begin with.

At least it's not the case anymore, but back in August 2013, people were actually concerned about running out of time because of them, so most people, like me, that did it when it came out didn't even watch them as we went because of this.

Now, thanks to Duty Roulettes and a few patches later, people can get help from others about twice the item level then when the game was released, making the runs much smoother for first timers. That alone should be ample compensation for having to watch cutscenes later... but apparently not according to some. ^^

People love throwing around the word entitlement like it's a new swear word or something. Are new players entitled to watching the cutscenes? ABSOLUTELY! They deserve to be entitled. As someone else said, majority may rule, but that doesn't mean they are always right. In this case, I believe first timers have the bigger case. They deserve to see the story how it was meant to be seen. Not after-the-fact in an innroom with the context blown away like a Mythbusters explosion.

The weight of someone finishing their story is more than random dudes that are only there to get paid. It's like reading a book. You deserve to see how it ends. Speedrunners are like, "Hurry up! Read faster noob!" That's no way to enjoy the book and story. Let them watch their cutscenes. Stop sounding like little babies! "UGGGH some noob is watching a cutscene in a story dungeon! My life is over! WAHHH"

I hear SR say "Well, when you do this dungeon 100 times, you'll be crying about watching CSes too!" That works both ways you know. How many of you SR would complain if you do Ramuh the first time with people demanding you to skip his intro cutscene and watch it in the inn? That's go crazy. Double standard much?

The problem isnt with development its with impatient careless players. When you do main story, you know there will be new players, its called main story for a reason. If you dont have the time or patience to revisit the -main story- then -do not- do main story roulette. Its that simple.

Also they should not have kicked him for watching the cutscene. People who think its ok to queue for a dungeon which has long cutscenes then demand a player to not watch them are always and always will be in the wrong. You know exactly what youre going into when you click the duty finder so you must be prepared to greet that content.

You're right, I do. I treat it as a dungeon like any other and the majority rule wins. You want to dick around watching cutscenes while the other 7 people are forced to wait you can pretty much guarantee I'll be one of the people voting to kick your arse out the instance.

Nothing forces the other 7 people to wait.you can continue without those watching the cutscenes THAT is also a choice you have, of course you live with the consequences......ahh how silly of me, why would people be accountable for their decision. Equally the one watching the cutscenes, bears the consequences as to skip some fights, a relative good compromise.

One or two people do that you're directly hampering the other player's progression through the zone and depending on your class that could classify as harassment. So, yeah, you'd most likely be kicked in most parties I've seen in Story Roulette.

Let's see you do your Dr when I'm healing it and the other new Person is the 2nd healer and wants to watch Cs. Wanna kick them? I'll leave to just to put you in your place. Have fun waiting for 2 healers. I hate when people are dicks to new players and I'll do everything in my power to see them accommodated instead of abused so they can enjoy the game. And maybe they'll have a good attitude and do the same for someone in that spot in e future.

This is still a problem?

I quit back in October because of the community and cutscenes. It annoyed me to no end to see so many little kids ruining the first time experience of other players by screaming to skip cutscenes. I returned this weekend because I was under the impression a new mode of dungeoning had been made for those people, that assumed cutscene skipping. Is this seriously still an issue?

Jesus, people are so impatient. "Omg you cost me an extra 4 minutes on my run by enjoying the content the way it was meant to be enjoyed! I KICK YOU!".

Luckily, it is considered abuse of the votekick system now as far as I understand, and is extremely easy to investigate. You can report the person and be certain there will be repercussions, but it doesn't help with the current annoyance of not getting to enjoy the content properly the first time.

I attribute this exact topic to be why FF14 is considered to have one of the most toxic communities in the industry. It's practically legendary how badly the community is viewed in other AAA titles.
