    Please this, I'd very much like the freedom to run with multiple friends who have conflicting work schedules etc. Also can attest to both hearing about and seeing the drama that results from this first hand both in the previous run of coil and the current one.

    If the priority of the game is to have fun and enjoy content with people then this is something that should have been addressed long ago, and to those who are and will continue to make the claim that people will sell runs etc be aware that its something that already is and will continue to happen regardless of whether or not the lockout is lifted.

    I would much rather have the opportunity to expand the number of friends I'm allowed to complete content with than worry about some person I'll never meet buying a piece of gear that will be irrelevant in 3 months.

    At least not at the moment. There isn't enough content to support not having lockouts on new stuff. Once the quantity of content is at a certain level I can see them easing the whole lockout thing.

    Look at tomestones as an example of this concept. Once they had enough level 50 dungeons to handle the loot they got rid of philosophy tomes and made the ilvl 70 gear drop from dungeons. I expect the same to happen with the i90 and i100 stuff, and eventually their content release cycle will be finely tuned enough that new tiers of gear will just be out there as loot instead of stuff that needs some form of currency to purchase.

    Coil can't have a loot lockout because the developers are either lazy, or it just wouldn't work from a technical standpoint. Crystal Towers worked easily; you won a lot, it registered that and locked you out for the week. If Coil worked on the same principle, then the player base would effectively be getting 8 times the amount of drops, if not more. They'd have to work it so it registers that you've won the Turn for the week, and locks you out regardless of whether you've won or not. That shouldn't be difficult, but I imagine they don't want to do that solely to avoid drama. People who don't realize how much extra Coil gear would be generated per week if they changed it closer to how Crystal Tower worked will complain ad nauseum for it to work exactly like Crystal Tower. There's also the fact that lockouts artificially increase difficulty, by removing players from runs after they've done theirs.

    It could be a problem if a handful of groups master each turn in coil, carry everyone else past turn 4 (paid every step of the way) up to turn 9, they leave and all that's left are clueless players in high allagan after the good players have left. Carries put an abnormal amount of inexperienced players where they shouldn't be.

    Sure, everyone wants a quick buck, but you're not taking into account the community being built because of it. It's very shortsighted and not good for the base skill at end-game when statistics show X amount of people cleared Y content, yet don't understand any of the mechanics. It's simply bad in the long term, and it's bad when people come to the forums and say, "I was carried through turn 10 of coil, why can't I beat 11? Nerf now!"

    Suffice to say:

    Will never happen until it's no longer relevant - Lockouts be it gear, tomes or progression is done to keep people from blowing through this short lived content, it's a way to artificially extend content life to keep us busy until the next patch.

    Actually, coil had both loot and progression lockout - It just wasn't obvious because we couldn't return to the previous turn. When they removed the restriction on Coil 1 they stated they removed loot and progression lockout. (Might have been an error but it's very easy to lock a player out of gear since it's an extremely almost automatic check the system does.)

    People are selling runs right now everywhere and it's perfectly normal. To me, I think buying runs is alternative for people who don't have a good fc to run with. They spend their time farming gil instead of spending their time failing with pugs. Either way, it is a means to complete the runs. People could either choose to spend time farming gil or practicing with pugs.
