Relic Questline about 30% too much IMHO

Zenith, given how much Myth is required everyone else now, 600 Myth would be just perfect I think.

Atma's, 9 would've felt just right imo (obviously, this doesn't work with the 12 Zodiac Braves, so a marginal increase in drop-rate would suffice).

Animus, 1,000 Myth per would've been just right; even like 60 enemy kills instead.

    Novus, 50 Alexanderite's/Materia would've felt on-point.

As it is, I feel a strong amount of the playerbase is reconciling the idea they'll only ever do a single Novus.

I don't think this should be the case...

I think it should be somewhat plausible/reasonable for a mid-tier casual to keep 1 relevant with another up-and-coming. An extreme hardcore would likely have 2 completed or a 2nd near-completion... which to me sounds about right.

Any chance we can see revisions to the cost(s)/time investment sooner than later?

I'm all for long-term content but it feels just roughly 30% too heavy-handed.

    Thoughts?

Also, the ability to collect Atma's using any tier of Relic weapon (plain, zenith, animus, novus).

Also, the ability to pre-purchase Animus Books (so we're not forced to spend at the Myth Cap when we've spent 50 hours grinding Atma's & still don't have them all).

I think part of the problem is how it's currently setup, it majorly dissuades people from ever doing a second... or even their first for a good lot. Many are so turned off by the process (too gruelingly extreme)... I think that should be a red-alert in the design sector.

"You don't have to do it, you know!", yes we know, but there are many who love the idea of having epic, exclusive, & long-standing weaponry; others who are completionists; others who like grinds for the most part; others who appreciate long-term goals despite disliking aspects of them; and so on...

Personally, I think obtaining a weapon of legend in an MMO where your weapon is your power should be exciting, and the fact is: it simply isn't exciting for so many people, and that's sad to me.

So regardless of people's reasons for completing the Relic Questline, I urge SE to strongly take into account how vastly unenjoyable it is for a massive portion of its population & alter or reevaluate the processes somehow.

Not that they 'have' to cater to us, but my impression is games are there to enjoy & have fun.

Above all: perhaps if there were more exciting open-world content for groups or if FATE's were made more interesting as a whole or better myth-grind alternatives, that would be one thing...

But there is not, so this' a plea to SE to look inwardly with regards to this system & try to infuse more 'fun' into it as a whole.

I agree that it's overdone, but I'd ask for slightly different changes.

12 Atma makes sense, the droprate is just too low

Animus, yeah, less myth cost, but I'm fine with 100 enemies. . .if they were enemies that spawn more than 3 in the whole effing world.

Haven't moved on to the Novus yet, so no comment there.

But, yeah, for a game priding itself on letting you play everything, I don't see why there's a giant brick wall keeping you from gearing up multiple classes with second-rate gear. . .

Currently, I just finished my 7th book, so I can't comment on the Novus stuff yet.

I think the quests and Myth requirements are fine as is. I got the 12 Atmas within roughly a week (with 2 extras, actually), which wasn't that bad now that I look back on it. I know some people in my FC who are already working on a second set... I think one already has a second set that he's saving for when Ninja comes out. Granted, I know that a lot of people just have horrible luck with RNG, so perhaps they could boost the drop rate a little bit in the future.

My biggest issue is that there are not enough DIFFERENT viable methods of farming Myth. Brayflox Hard Mode speedruns of the first two bosses still remains the go-to method for this, and it gets old really quick. Also, if you're like me, you refuse to do Duty Roulettes with PUG's because you don't like gambling/wasting your time with idiots and trolls, and also can't type and fight well at the same time to give instructions mid-battle. Maps and beastmen quests are nice, but we only have so many per day.

I would like to see Myth and Soldiery be awarded from certain levequests that you could only do once you reach Lv50, or a certain item level. I'm always sitting on a ton of leve allowances, but the only thing I'm currently using them for is towards my books; all of my classes/jobs are 50, and I can't utilize the exp.

Yeah, upping to 3% (instead of 1%) for Atma could do just fine.

Upping the spawn-rate or mob count would suffice too so we're not left to sit around for spawns 3-4x over.

If the Mysterious Maps for Novus garnered drops like the Boarskin/Peiste Maps too, I think that'd help the Novus progress along... just make it more enjoyable & incentivize people to party up for them (as currently only the map-owner gets anything, a single Alexanderite).

I think this guy had pretty good ideas for reducing the Myth requirements overall -- http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...res-are-Absurd

I like the idea of extremely challenging leve's that drop Myth/Soldiery.

Regarding the Novus grind I'm 19 materia melds in. I've also just been doing my daily map and purchasing another with myth tomes on occasion. To me it's much easier than Zenith>Atma>Animus, though a bit more expensive gil-wise. Spiritbonding is an option but I bring in enough gil where I know I'll finish eventually just buying the materia I need, even if I spend every last bit of my funds. It's not bad, people just need to get there first. I'd ignore running fates though, in my personal experience and apparently for some others it's not worth it :P Especially after doing nothing but fates for months for previous relic upgrades.

Major content patches come out in 3 month installments. People were complaining they were burning through content. So the developers added a lot of grindy content in 2.2. When 2.3 hits, I'll have completed all DoH/DoL i70 tools and head piece items, Atma, Animus, and be more than halfway to Novus.

So I would say that the requirements for these things is about right, except I also sometimes play 6-8 hours per day, so I have to agree that SE has made some things too grindy. In my opinion everything in a content patch should be completed right when the next content patch comes out (too soon and players get bored, too late and people feel behind). I realize this is a hard balance to strike and the developers might have a different vision. This would be perfect for me, however, especially if I could achieve these things without having to play quite so much.

Help me cut back, SE, just a little bit! I swear I'll keep subbing every month for your great game!

Honestly I'd just be happy if they upped the Myth you get from dungeons, dropping the prices of books would be great but I'd like to just be able to farm myth faster so I could maybe start getting other gear sets I want, currently everything I get myth wise is being sunk into upgrading my book and it's pretty depressing.

The myth requirements isn't too bad... if you focus on just one job. The game emphasizes the concept of 'one character - many classes' so much, but everything is forgotten when it comes to gearing those classes/jobs, why is that?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop requesting them to nerf evertything. I really enjoy the fact that not everyone will have their relic upgraded. I think it's part of what makes the weapon unique. If your not willing to put in the time/effort to upgrade the weapon you don't deserve it.
