I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I thought I read somewhere that RGE(?)/NIN would be DEX based, and ranged attack aside (and armor skin, now that I think about it) DEX would make the most sense. Currently, bards have a monopoly on a whole sect of gear. If rogue is going to be released alone, it only makes sense to create some inter-class competition for this unique 'advantage' that our ranged physical enjoys.

Also, I believe it was stated ninja will not have a throw ability, so... No 9999 shuriken tosses for all the prospective shinobi out there. =P

Thats what some people thought when the first set of new abilities were datamined.
Yoshida however pretty much confirmed that this is wrong and Ninja will be STR based and if we wanna gear it we should look at our current melee drops.
There will be a second class which is a gunner that will be DEX based.
Also dragoons and monks have a monopoly on their gear too, yes they do share accessories but their whole left gear is just for them alone and they both need another class to share it with.
Yes we also want to have another class to gear at the same time as our main.
Ninja will mostlikely share their gear with Monk.

Assuming no delays (unlikely), roughly mid Oct to early Nov is most likely.

I would think ahead to future gear since by the time the class is released we'll probably be at ilvl 130-135. Does that also give a hint that the next set of gear will also share jobs and not be exclusive AF gear? Hmm....

Yep, Patch 2.4 will be the patch they raise iLvl but it always a good start if you can pimp your ninja in iLvl 100-110 gear when you ding 50!

I'm sure they will be DEX-based, and they'll just change the tool-tip for DEX...

Also, don't forget that the DRG and BRD (DEX and STR) share the same base armor for CT...just because MNK have Fuma gear doesn't mean NIN won't have a reskinned DEX-based version


Also, there are 2 jobs for every stat...except DEX...making a third STR-based job will just screw over everyone who needs those accessories.
