I like where you were going with the "Primals" and "Primal Avatars" thing. That would add a huge arsenal to summoners and make gameplay interesting if each Primal and the lesser Avatars had few quirks about them that could hurt or help you in battle.

How about seeing some original Primal ideas? Let's see, since the summons are usually named after beings from mythology ... how about Hermes which has a special ability to cast a spell that makes party members in AoE walk/run faster? Like Chocobo Mazurka in FFXI.
