Why do new players receive death threats for enjoying the story?

Have a 'true story mode' where everyone's stats are capped at the new-50 level, and parts of the instance are randomly generated. Then no one will be especially held back by you, and no one will no any better than you what's going on!

Kidding, but I would actually enjoy that... and it probably could solve a fair bit of those impatient tome-rusher problems. Might want to increase the bonus to match though.

This actually happened to me last night on Adamantoise. First time going through the last two dungeons (as a tank), had no clue what was going on and was asked to skip the cut scenes all the way through. I didn't really think anything of it until seeing this thread, but I did have a slight regret for skipping through everything...

I ran Praetorium a few days ago and the other healer was new.

One of the DPS gave her a hard time about watching the CS's and asked her to skip them and watch them in the inn.
I said that I was fine with waiting for her to watch them. Both of the tanks then said the same thing.
The dps person whined for a few seconds about it being a waste of time, we said that he was welcome to drop and requeue. Of course they stayed.

Not everyone absolutely demands to have people skip the scenes.

I skipped the CM and Praet cutscenes my first time through, but wish I would have taken the time to watch them. I have no problem with other folks doing so...story is a big part of Final Fantasy games.

There seems to be a disconnect between the "old school" MMO'ers who are all about running everything at maximum speed and efficiency, and those of us whose main goal is to enjoy a Final Fantasy experience. I only played one MMO prior to FF XIV (Guild Wars 2), but have been a FF fan for 20+ years. Not having the same level of MMO experience as others, this idea of bypassing the story entirely and simply running through everything as fast as possible is utterly foreign to me (and rather silly, tbh).

Not silly at all. After you have seen the cut scenes and you are running it for the hundreth time you will want to run it as fast as poissible as well.

I said it before and ill repeat it here.. if you want to enjoy the content the way it was designed to be DO NOT USE DUTY FINDER. do a party finder and make sure everyone is not higher than ilv60.. if you join the via the df you are going to have the majority of the people being so overgeared the fights are a joke anyway.. so your really not getting the full effect.. plus have some consideration for those people whisping you through the fights.. they just saved you hours of agony that they had to go through in ilv 55 or less gear.. my first time through cm and prae.. no one even had a relic let alone darklight... so to sum it all up.. you are trading your experience for a faster more enlightened experience using duty finder.. be courteous to those helping you.. personally I have no problems waiting for people or showing them the ropes.. but a lot of ppl have limited time to play and are just grinding for myth..

Not sure if this was mentioned already within thread, but they should just add more filter options with ilevel requirements intended for players who have already completed the dungeon , meet a min ilvl requirements and Que for ppl shooting for a speed run as I know not everyone prefers them. I my self on a first attempt would prefer standard run as to become familiar with the dungeons but when farming myths abd if the Party set up allows . Speedrun

I've ran CM and Prae dozens of times.
If I don't wanna watch the CS, I skip CS and chat with party, fc, or ls.
It doesn't take that long even if people watch cut scenes....

It's a slightly off-topic matter, but it was pointed out by friends of mine that had just hit 50 that "why is everything in Castrum and Praetorium so much easier than everything we did to get here?"

And they've got a point. Even though I deliberately geared myself down for the experience, leaving four of us at the 'expected' levels of gear to tackle the dungeons, the other four in our parties were all geared at 70+ (a couple in the 90+). As a result, almost everything was... pretty much ignorable. It kinda kills the excitement of a finale to the game when you basically get to just "eh, whatever" at every boss in the place.

So I... would actually really like an item level sync implemented. In a lot of content, actually.

Racing through something a hundred times without slowing down to appreciate the whole thing sounds absolutely horrendous. Once I've run something a few times, I may well accept occasional speedruns through it, but every fourth or fifth run or so, I'm going to want to see the whole thing, if just to keep it from getting boring.
