Since Yugiri has a scaled tail I am thinking she is a dragon/human hybrid type of race and those are horns on her head.

FFXIV has too many pure human type races so it would be nice to have a more non human looking one.

Anyone here wondering why a bunny race would have a Rat Tail?

1. It is confirmed there will be a new race introduced.

2. The story that came with Lady Yugiri sets the stage very much for the race being from her land.

3. Lady Yugiri is clearly a new race we have not seen, and is clearly not a bunny girl.



I took this pic in game, from the story. From this pic you can see clearly, Yugiri has a scaled tail (like some kind of serpent or dragon kin), also she has two large protrusions from her head that could be ears or horns possibly?

In anycase unless Viera grew snake tails, I doubt it is the bunny girl most people seem to think she is.

Actually she might be draconic. She mentioned hiding her features to not cause an uproar in Eorzea.
Given that dragons are at war with Ishgard, being draconic will be a good reason to do so.

Q: In the 3rd Players’ Poll, there was a question about new races and clans. What kind of race will be implemented and when? Also, will we see Viera or beastmen/lizardmen?

A: The Viera are extremely popular amongst our overseas players, so we’re really thinking hard about this one. We’d also been considering a dragon-blood tribe – something more beastman or reptilian, a direction that we haven’t really tried in a FINAL FANTASY before.I guess I was leaning towards what in Japan would be considered a Western design, but our North American players have also been pretty vocal in their requests for the Viera race. We would like to look into it. You can assume it would be for an expansion pack.

Q: What kind of new races are you considering adding, and will mixed races ever be introduced?
A: I don't think we'll have mixed races for a while.

If and when we implement additional races, I would like them to be different from what we have now. That said, the longer we wait, the more difficult it becomes for players to start over from scratch, even if they'd like to play as a new race, so we'll have to keep that in mind as well.

Viera are quite popular around the world, so we're considering them. Personally, I would prefer something more beastly, so a new race's appearance may vary greatly depending on if you choose a male or a female.

Maybe this is smoke and mirrors and yugiri isn't actually part of a new playable race. In fact, most domans from the cutscenes look normal to me, so what if she is just cursed or deformed or something, and not actually a different race. I kind of skimmed the cutscenes so I'm not sure if she ever mentioned her race hiding their faces in Eorzea or if it was just herself that was hiding her face.

This does make it clear that we could be seeing a draconic/reptilian race. Cool. I already have a dragoon in the making that I wanted to be a draconic race to start! Yay! Still has his fantasia! woot!

Maybe the new race is Burmecian from Final Fantasy IX?
They fight with lances like a dragoon and they look like reptilian...? They also have long ears and a tail
