Dragoons are getting their Wyvern (not explicitly announced, Yoshi vid inside)

Or they could let the DRG companion be a wyvern instead of a chocobo. Not usable in dungeons/raids so no rebalancing would be necessary (unless they have some open world content planned).
Actually thinking about it like that makes me wish they had done that with SMN, and give them a "job specific" limit break that could summon a primal in for a big attack/buff or whatever.

Kinda spoiler but... iirc late in the dragoon questline, we discover that the more we use the DRG's power, the more we become like dragons, so who knows...

It is more like the more you use the DRG power the more the dragon power try to control your mind.

it was the same way in XI, one would argue. remember that due to their job crystal, dragoons are actually easier influenced by dragons as well, and generally have a better understanding of them.

remember we are adventurers, the class or job we play is not our way of life, its a fighting style.

I don't think he said he would put Wyverns in. Said from the beginning that many DRG's would be upset if their damage was reduced to work with the wyvern. From the way it sounds, it looks like wyverns wouldn't be a thing unless they can integrate it without hindering the DRG's damage. My guess if they did impliment it is there would be a 3-5 minute ability in an expansion to summon a wyvern to perform a function then leave.

Completely changing the fundamentals of the DRG would separate the community who play DRG and I am very sure a lot of DRG's would switch jobs and I am sure the dev team don't want that to happen. I personally would switch to MNK if my DPS was lowered as a DRG just to have a pet.

The world is not black and white. As there are bad dragoons it goes to say there are probably 'good' dragons. And varying moral shades in between. I think it would make for a more complex story if we were to say team up with a dragon that broke out against the status quo and wanted to help us when he could.

But I mean, if you just want simple fetch quests for storylines, that's cool I guess. >_>

I'd vote along the lines of a usable companion so there wouldn't need to be any re-balances. Rotation for DRG is heavy enough without adding pet management to it. >w<; Plus I enjoy my DRG just how it is so I'd rather they didn't break it or screw it up.

On the note of lore... Going from a Ishgard standpoint no dragons being handed out as companions wouldn't make a lot of sense. Though as someone did point out the characters are adventurers and not technically from Ishgard. I'm not sure how they would add a drake or what not as a companion or pet or whatever and tie it into the present lore of the Dragoon. Unless like someone said due to the DRG's 'connection' (lack of better word) to dragons maybe they do find out something that was done to the dragon-kin race in the past.

Just my two cents on it that don't really matter for anything. D; I'm not a developer so all we can do is twiddle our thumbs and wait and see what happens.

Wyvern pet confirmed- non damage minion.
Gilgamesh Extreme? 8 Arms.
Magitek Companion.
Golden Saucer(already known) lots of mini games.
Possibly enter dungeons with less than 4/8 player, maybe even with Companions.
