I don't even want to know what this "animus relic" is just because the details surrounding its acquisition seem to hint towards discouragement rather than EXCITEMENT.
I enjoy my animus for one primary reason: it was a damage increase over what I had and would serve as a inbetween until I obtained something better. That was the drive to get it done, and until Novus comes along to show what else they plan to throw at us it will do. In some cases the Tidal weapons still win out at i100, and if you're in a group that progresses well enough for Second binding coil, then either will be soon replaced by unlocked weathered weapon or High allagan.
I can only hope that at some point they add progression that allows some personalization changes such as adding stats that otherwise aren't on them. Sadly most have a surprising lack of det/crit and instead give Skill speed where it isn't wanted or needed depending on job.
Just the fully upgraded atma verson of relic. Novus will come soon. I don't see how it's discouragement. I'm actually excited to complete these books. I'll be able to help out some lower-level members of my FC and progress toward my animus.
I will love it BECAUSE so few others have it right now.
Don't like Animusmy sword and shield doesn't glow as cool as Stardust Rod Animus.
And I am not farming another 13500 mythology again unless they increase Mythology gain rate (which they said they may in 2.28 and again in 2.3).
Just got mine last night. Totally worth the effort.
The last online game I played was WKC2 whose very best weapons took approx 8 months to attain and fully upgrade with rng rewards from limited dailies. In comparison, this weapon was easy.
I really like it. It's nowhere near the best weapon in the game but a true trophy for those that are happy to grind. I really hope SE doesn't cave in to the overwhelming complaints.
If I had to chose one thing to change about the upgrading process it would probably be the tremendous myth requirement. Not because it's a lot, but because the impatience and negativity you get in the duty finder. The animus quest has brought the worst out of people while running brayflox hm and the main scenario roulettes since a majority of people seem to only be concerned with getting myth as fast as possible, failing to help anyone new or let them enjoy the cutscenes to the end of the game.
I got mine last weekend for my BLM and am just glad it is over, knowing I will never do it again unless SE changes the way to get it. So many things I did not like but kinda pushed myself through it without enjoying it:
- you receive the quest, do the first part and it just vanishes from your quest log. No track of your progress. Like it wouldn't be there although it occupies you a lot. I had my first Relict quest with me for many weeks and it always reminded me about the next step and where I stand, no matter how frustrating it was sometimes.
- having to use Zenith to get ATMAS, no chance to play with a FATE friendly char (BLM sucks on low level fates lol) or to level alts with it
- no reward for farming 12 ATMAS. Your weapon name changes, item Level changes but stats remain the same. Very odd feeling. Have I achieved something more than cosmetics? After drooling for three weeks in FATES I never really liked to play since the Game exists. Uuum Yes. At least I got the 1.000 FATEs achievement automatically this way lol.
- having to use ATMA weapon to do the books. Same problems as with getting ATMAS. No choice of character, have to do it with the character who has the weapon, can't level alts
- Doing low level dungeons for books was tedious and frustrating as hell as DPS. Players abandoning quicker than I can join, leaving players in almost each run, long waiting queues and a high chance that easy dungeons become a mindf***. It took me almost longer to get Aurum Vale done than to farm 1.500 myths for a book, ended up waiting for people on my FC to do it. Ridiculous. Not really SE's fault but they picked ALL the dungeons people have still problems with and prolly ever will. Cutters cry, Aurum Vale, Brayflox, Quarn, Pharos. Just to name the most prominent. Relying on tanks that stay in such dungeons instead of running as fast as they can is highly frustrating. That moment when a dungeon start and you just wait for the tank or healer to leave... hated it.
- Doing rare FATES and waiting for them was driving me nuts. Major reason I will NEVER do it again. Standing around is no approriate slowdown for progression, time sink, long term goal, whatever you like to call it. It ist just fgn boring.
- Last dissapointment was to receive the Animus itself. Nice CS but in the end, you receive a glow effect and that's it. No stat improvement, no item level change. Just a glow. Fantastic. Last step of such a quest should be a HUGE reward. Glow effect is not.
Are you serious? The weapon damage rating goes up to match an i100 weapon so your performance increases considerably.
^^ weapon damage changes when you get Animus? Didn't notice that. Will have to compare with a mate who hasn't upgraded his weapon yet. I only noticed the stat upgrades after finishing each of the nine books.
