Duty Finder should = Lowest possible expectations, most communication.

In my opinion, since everybody can access the Duty Finder, it should be the place where you expect newbies, people who haven't done things before, or people who might want to go slower.

It should not be assumed it's an automatic speedrun as soon as you enter or that anyone knows "the plan" that "everyone" always uses. Communication would be great, too.

Party Finder is for specifically collecting the exact group you wish, Duty Finder gives you random people.

Your right to a point. You should not go into DF expecting miracles, but you should go in expecting everyone to play well.

If I enter DF wanting to speedrun a non story dungeon my expectations carry just as much weight as any other single party member. Granted the person that wants to take it slow has the advantage of sitting on their hind end and effectively putting the brakes on any attempt to speed up the process, but thats them forcing their wants upon the group who may not share their goals. Now if I'm the only person interested in a higher risk higher gain playstyle thats too bad for me, but if three of the four want to speedrun the fourth had best pick it up.

As to communication, it's on the newer folks to say something so folks can give them an idea of tactics and what is expected of them. Though if someone wants to run a dungeon in any way other than single pulls and downing one monster at a time I'd say it's on them to voice their idea to the group and make sure everyone gets it.

But that all assumes your dealing with sane adults who would rather not cause their fellow man undue stress. In reality it's a bunch of folks that you'll never see again and most just don't really give a damn if they make your play time a stress filled nightmare. It's just the nature of the beast, unless someone is farming commendations I suppose. =/

    Thanks for your time ^^

Learn to adopt yourself to the lowest end of the party as a whole.
If you want speedruns, go PF. Doesn't matter if 3 out of 4 in a DF want a speedrun. If the 4th is not up to it, you're just creating a negative environment by trying to force it anyway.
Chances are you'll get more downtime creating a longer run by trying to force a speedrun than you'd get by adapting to the situation.

Queue up expecting the worst then be surprised when it goes well. I queued up for Sunken Temple to finish off my hunting log entries. We got the message that one or more people was new. It wasn't me. I warned people that the first boss can be a pain in the ass and how to make it bearable. We do well with not a single death in the whole run.

Basically it is correct but it is not complete.
There are many newbies want to go fast, faster than an old-cake's expectation.
    And there are many old-cakes just chatting with FC during the run so cannot concentrate on the dungeon too much. ^^;

What really bothers me is when someone is new, and they don't mention it.

If someone is new and needs explanation of the mechanics, everyone is always willing to explain it. When someone is new and doesn't mention anything, everybody just assumes he knows what's going on (maybe he's seen the dungeon before, looked up a guide or this is simply an alt, or maybe nobody noticed that there is a new player at all), and everybody gets angry at the new player. And it's so easy to fix it as well, by just saying "First time, is there anything I should know?".

I don't really mind a speedrun but if I end up in Brayflox HM (I so hate this place now) and the other 3 people want to d/c after the 2nd boss while I just want to get my roulette done, I won't pick it up. I'll leave right then.

About speedruns, it's all fine by me to do that through Duty Finder. The problem is that 90% of the time (for me, anyway) they "just" do a speedrun. They don't ask if the rest of the party is up for it, they just sprint along, grab every mob in sight and go at it.
...Often ends up with the tank getting his ass killed mind you. To be expected, if you ask me.

Thankfully haven't gotten into a group where people leave Brayflox HM after the 2nd boss though.
But in general lack of communication isn't necessarily bad, most people know how things go anyways. But if you're new, please just mention it. If you want a speedrun, ask if the rest of the people are up to it. You're not always in a group that's pro.

if you have the bad idea to say you are new to something, you see all of a sudden the entire group or half of t at least disconnect....that is why people dont say they are new, they prefer to take the risk and try it without saying anything yet get at least a very good portion ofe xp then seeing their waiting time often more then an hour if DPS gone for nothing just beacause some donkey decided he or she is too good to help a newby.

Try to ask why people dont say they are new.. rather then demanding them to say so..there is a reason for that and not all are understanding towards newby..in fact quit the contrary..and since they probably dont know you , is better to be safe then sorry..cant blame them.

Did that thought cross you mind even for a moment? The elist mentality is not acceptable, you will not find that kind of behavior from jpn players, why, because 1 harassment is against ToS, and 2 they know what respect means.
