Has anyone here tried using the repair action/trait? When your on a DoH class, and you click on this action, it shows a repair list similar to what the NPC shows. Where you can repair all. Granted the difference being it only shows all the gear that your class can repair. But it is still far more convenient then trying to search your armory or inventory and trying to determine what is actually damaged. I agree that there is still some improvement needed for this system, but this action/trait has really made things much easier for me repairing my own gear.

I don't know, AFAIK they want to improve it, but it's not very high on their list. They said no to repairing gear of other players or repairing gear without switching class, but all I want is a nice list like in the meld interface. They just have to take NPC repair window, remove the "Repair All" button and the "Cost" column, then grey out everything you can't repair with your current class like in the meld gui. All these elements already exists in the game, so it should be easy to do something like this.

I personally repair all of my gear in most situations. If we are pressed for time (PF que) i'll simply repair all my Accessories since its only GSM and them repair the rest of my gear from the NPCs. It saves you 50% of the costs. If you factor in how many times you repair your gear from less than 50% in 1 week that could be anywhere from 10-20k in repairs. A stack of DM costs aprox 6k so i'd say thats pretty decent savings.

But yes only the super Frugal seem to make use of this, in the same way only the frugal use Boat's for transportation. It all adds up.

Maybe they could make crafter repairs enhance the durability of the item instead. That would be a value-add. It would have to be something significant like 50% longer duration.

Repair shouldn't require you to change to the DoH, Only that you have it to that level.

This would solve the issue of broken gear in a dungeon.

Self repairing to 200% would be great and make it worth while.

You don't need to do that - use the repair action instead - it will list only items relevant for your current DoH class and grouped the same way as for Melding or Storing in Airmore.

While I do agree that current repair system is cumbersome and outdated I still use it and save a bunch of gil doing so. It still possible to repair anywhere apart of instances and once you get hang of it you can repair the whole gear set in about 15 - 20 seconds (a bit more for some classes with gear from more than 3 DoHs but even then under minute easilly so it's still worth up to 65 - 70% repair cost savings) which is usually less that going to repair NPC anyway.

You guys have no idea how easy you have it with repairs. Back in my day (That being early release 1.0), we didn't have dark matter, oh no. No, we had to actually use crafting mats to repair gear. If you wanted to repair say, some mithril plate armor, you had to use mithril plates as the repair mat. If you wanted to repair a cotton robe, you needed cotton cloth. For many people, to repair a full set of gear required like 15 different items of different quantities all taking up precious inventory space. The dark matter introduction was welcomed because it at most, only took up 5 slots.

Seriously, how lazy are you if you can't be arsed to spend AT MOST 30 seconds repairing gear?

I'm level 50 in all eight crafting classes.

I mostly only get repair mileage out of Leatherworking, Weaving, Goldsmithing and Blacksmithing.

But I'd still rather have dark matter any day of the week because it costs less than half what paying for repairs normally costs.

I have an idea. How about making it possible to repair gear without changing classes? I mean sure, still rely on class levels to determine what can and cannot be repaired, but just try to make it possible to repair without changing classes.
