SE where are the memorable memories?

I played FFXI from 2004~2010 and I have so many fond memories of that game. I played this game since release and I don't even have 1 fond memory. This game is fun but you don't really need anyone for anything in this game.

Making people work together is what made memorable memories in FFXI. Having everything instanced keeps you from making any memories because you never see the same people for more then 30~40 minutes. I don't think this game is going to make 10 years like FFXI did.

yeah, why don't I get the feeling of nostalgic memories from this game, yet? I mean it's been, like, a whole 9 months.

This is a different kind of game, Blissa. Enjoy it or leave it, that's all, and don't want to be mean with it I'll probably leave it soon too after my subscription ends.

If it will last 10 years or not, we'll see. There are fun games that doesn't give you any kind of "fond memorys". Manny people play counter strike year and years and years without any fond memory of it. They just have fund, wich is great.

Also ,there are things that need you to put the same people together. I mean, I'm sure that you have not defeated T9 if you are never playing with the same people. It may be a diferent kind of effort of the one you are looking for, but it is there.

I'm sure that pretty much everyone who played FFXI in some way remembers their first run to Jeuno.

I wonder if people will have similar memory of anything from this game in 10 years.

This is not FFXI , can't say more....
So because it's not FFXI, it should not have memorable memories?

FFXI was born in a generation that had yet to get tired of mmo's. It's not this game, it's you. Marriage over. Welcome to the honeymoon. I daily see dynamics in FFXIV-ARR that I'm proud of. I think, "Wow, you devs and artists put some time and thought into this." Also, FFXI wasn't all as great as you remember. When you were in it you were just as bitchy about it. You're just peering thru the looking glass with nostalgia. Let's say SE makes yet another mmo and does everything everyone on these forums asked them to. You'd all be bitching about that new game and telling them how it should have been more like ARR. Your enjoyment of what's around you comes from inside you not from what's around you; assuming shiz isn't borked. This is about the smoothest running themepark I've played in years - more polished than anything else I've touched. That said, there is always room for improvement in anything.

No, I remember my time in FFXI quite clearly, at least most of it. Also played it some in abyssea, but wasn't the same then. Not really sure why it must be nostalgia in case anyone happens to have enjoyed FFXI a lot.

Only time I really "bitched" at FFXI was after the ranger nerf.

I think you all are misunderstanding the OP.

Are any of you from the 8-bit NES generation like me? I think you'd understand then. It's not about the beautiful art that they've come up with (while that is plenty awesome), it's really about dynamic gameplay (read: new ideas).

The 8-bit consoles had really terrible graphics of course, how do you get attached to your character when you are basically a cube with legs and the music sounds like the instrument is your kid sister's xylophone? You really just needed to put out something really well thought out. Remember the original Legend of Zelda? It didn't have wiz-bang graphics really for the time. It just was something we didn't have before (or atleast it hadn't be presented as well/visibly) and it was put together in a neat/clean package.

Just maybe nothing is new anymore, maybe you all are right about that. The marriage is over as said. Even so though, can't just rehash all the other MMOs out there indefinitely. FFXIV might be the prettiest princess out there for MMOs at the moment but, all it would take is a MMO to be a slightly prettier princess to pull people away. When your biggest pull is your appearance/graphics, it's easier for another game to pull players away by something just a tad more advanced. If SE could come up with some dynamic gameplay element that is sort of new and not a rehash (just sort of! not looking for Einstein here!), I think they could have a much bigger following.
