Except the "vocal minority" can speak as they wish. Just as everyone else can. If someone is unhappy with an aspect of something they pay for they can vocalize this. The money they spend gave them the right to do so. Do I have a problem with the game? Negative. The problem is not in so much as the act of forming a complaint or not it's people that feel they must be contradictory for the sake of being asinine, not valid arguments to the contrary of said complaint. You cannot simply say that a person that dislikes "trolling" and verbalizes this is a troll themselves for by the self-same act you condemn yourself. It's referred to as a vicious cycle. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make them wrong. It makes them people. Time to move on lol.

Alright. This needs to stop. Gesser as much as you dislike it. At this time the people complaining about the game are by far what we like to call the "vocal minority". My reasoning behind this is in the fact that with such a massive playerbase, if the majority were upset with something in game it would be brutally obvious here. Such as a thread with hundreds of pages filled with people in agreement of said problem.

What's wrong with me calling out others who harass people here, or necro their threads, or forum troll them.

No offense meant but that seemed condescending... for the future, it's helpful to ask if someone is familiar with a concept before you act presumptuously and attempt to teach them. I am well aware of "vocal minorities" in forums & in regard to MMO's especially.

To be fair, I'm equally confused. To say that the minority shouldn't speak out is silly. I think people should always voice their concerns and feedback. There is a fine line between feedback and whining, to which you will probably see me being extremely vocal about (constructive, of course).

That said, I do think you're going to be a bit hard-pressed with getting much luck with this particular thread. However, I don't find it to be "useless," just an uphill battle. Rome wasn't built in a day. I just think that you should go in with the expectation that there is going to be trolling on any forum; the degree of which is going to vary on the crowd. The crowd with this game appears to be rougher than most.

EDIT: Just because someone doesn't like one particular part or can see improvement doesn't mean that they're going to quit. There are people like that, and there are some things that end up being the last straw. That isn't everyone. If you can make something from being "yeah, this is alright," or "yeah, this is fun but I wouldn't really recommend it," to "this is awesome, you should definitely try it," you should strive for it. The small things go a LONG way.

Ive had this crap said to me and this game is without a doubt for me. Ive waited the biggest portion of my life dreaming of this game and i wont be leaving until im too old or it closes. So yes, this game is for me.

Yeah, I'm not here to change the world, nor do I expect great results... but if I can 'call out' those that harass others on this forum once in a while for perceived trends or shared behaviors... then I will for justice's sake. Even if it is an uphill battle. I'm not afraid to use the report tool either, which I would suggest we all use appropriately.

Sometimes "Maybe this game isn't for you" or "Then why are you still playing" ARE the appropriate response, especially when people are asking for/raging about stuff they've already been told "No" by the devs multiple times, which on these forums...is usually the case.

Read "A Note". I love that you got upvote's from people who also clearly didn't read the disclaimer. Sorry, I just think it's funny . Helpful to read a message in its entirety before posting, at least the bolded disclaimers.

I frequently have my 'complaints' about the game, but it's only because I love this game and am so passionate. I may come off as brazen or harsh at times... but it's a tough kind of love because I'm fighting for this game's best. When I perceive a system is poorly implemented or bad design struck some portion of a patch, I will be calling it out & requesting changes. There are many aspects to this game I may disagree with at times, but overall I'm in this for the long haul and absolutely love ARR. If something doesn't change that I dislike, I am able to get over it & simply accept it.

These Dev's are doing an incredible job no matter how much critique I give them.

To be certain, I give the Dev's full praise & think they're wonderful. Yoshi-P is a phenomenal Director & I'm so glad this game thrives.

It's when people say they dislike something without actually thinking about it that bothers me. If they aren't immediately happy or satisfied with something, it's the worst thing ever.

As far as telling people not to play FFXIV, it is typically used when someone is being particularly angry about something. It's a legitimate suggestion, if you're not happy then don't play. It's a game. If you keep doing something even if you don't like it, that makes you either A. A insane person or B. an addict. People just get tired of hearing it after awhile, often you'd be doing yourself and everyone else a favor by taking a break or quitting.

I don't stick around in a game where Devs do things I have a strong distaste for. There are so many different MMO's out there. Give your money to one that is more aligned with your beliefs and principles.

See, the thread was dead because this was no more than just a continuation of a pointless tirade. And since the thread was dead, I saw no reason to clarify my quickly texted post from work. However now that I have time.

I never said that your opinion doesn't matter, I was more alluding to people in the vocal minority treating their opinions as fact, and automatically assuming the majority is behind them. I have my own personal gripes about this game, but I'm aware that most of the playerbase does not share my feelings. However, this is the internet everything is taken out of context and you'll return with a different pointless tirade trying to puff up your self-esteem.

Finally, Gesser if you are happy with the game thats great. If you have problems with the game that you also like to vocalize on the forums, that's also great. Just don't use straw man arguments to create pointless flamefests. That is what I really was saying needs to stop.
