FFXI DRG Pet Wyvern Minion

I miss my wyvern... Shantotto getting released gives me hope that one day I'll get my wyvern back - in minion form. Any old-school dragoons out there support this? There was always this unspoken appreciation between dragoons in XI - don't recall seeing that with any other class.

I most definitely support this. Something is lacking without my wyvern, a minion form would suffice.

I will be first to oppose a Wyvern addition to the Dragoon class, as this is far closer to the Dragoons of FF3-9, which were dragon knights with no pet (and party trust issues). XI is the first FF to give them a pet, so XIV's pet-less version is more in-line with traditional final fantasy. A mini pet is fine, however.

Did you guys just blow through quests without reading the dialogue? In this game, Dragonkin are the enemy, there's not a chance in hell that a Dragoon would have one as a companion.

Seems you need to reread the quests yourself actually, the final quest quite clearly implies that it could be possible to improve the relationships with dragons in the future, so it isn't too far fetched.

Ishgard has the issue with Dragons / Dragonkin, The player character however doesn't

@Taramin and Xieveral I dont think the OP is asking for a wyvern pet as a class mechanic, just a minion for visual purposes.

The lore really wouldnt suit dragoons have a baby wyvern in this game, but I will admit after playing XI it really just feels wrong not to have the little guy there with you. Would be nice to have a little questline that lets us find an egg or something, perhaps along the lines of 'well maybe it can be trained if its with you from birth,' and have a pet wyvern baby

Edit: havent actually played drg in 14, doesnt interest me without the pet, but from what I've seen in coerthas quests it doesnt fit
