I used to play on the PS3. Ground AOE indicators are delayed for me so even if I am out of the area, I still get hit. Then of course there is the slow loading times. I had the original fat PS3, many years old, playing on wireless.

I am now on the PS4. No issues. Also on wireless too.

I believe some older models of PS3 uses an inferior wireless chip resulting in bad connection speed and latency.

PS3 player. Clear Titan Ex as PLD and BLM when I can get groups together, Levi Ex as PLD (haven't tried as BLM), routine clearing of T1-4 (before echo buff). T5 - well, no static and small FC. But haven't had difficulties when I was in a group. No T6 yet. I have PS3 slim, no modifications or additions. Hard line connected to Internet. <-- mucho important. Helpe a lot.

The difference in reaction time/APM is much less noticeable in XIV thanks to the 2.5 second GCD, as opposed to other MMOs which usually carry a 1.5 second GCD. From someone who healed in WoW for several years pushing progression, healing in this game is almost slow motion. So, yeah, while keyboard/mouse will always be the superior input method in an MMO like this, the difference between it and a gamepad is much smaller since the game is, as a whole, slower paced.

As someone who switched from PS3 to PS4 the difference is literally like night and day. On PS3 I would have to be primed and ready to dodge certain things (mostly Titan). On PS4, I don't even need to memorize his rotation, I can dodge once I see it and even if I just escape by a millisecond, if I see that I am out, the game says I am out.

For most fights I don't believe PS3 players are at a huge disadvantage aside from increased loading times. But they should be able to clear all content just as well. Things will look cleaner in videos, but that's about it.

Ahh right. Sorry. Don't attack controller users but its perfectly fine to attack KB/M users.

Actually it's not fine to attack anyone, but the more vocal among us do attack anyone who doesn't use keyboard and mouse and alot of the time it's a minority of controller users who speak up in defense because we tend to play on the consoles instead of the PC as well. Keyboard and mouse players seem to almost constantly talk down to us like we're brain damaged. We aren't. When I'm playing I've carefully mapped my actions and made combos into macros all so that I don't ever have to look down at the controller to see what I'm doing. During the Beta, though, I had to constantly look at the keyboard to make sure I was hitting the right key for a particular action (I don't have a fancy mouse, I prefer trackballs and they don't really make fancy trackballs). It's a matter of personal comfort and I'm vastly more comfortable using a controller, I don't like having to look every time I want to do something.

And to add something about PS3 controller playing:

Over 15 years of playing Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct and others, from arcades to Super Nintendo, through PS3's SSFIV AE and MK, hitting buttons and flipping through skills with R2 is a piece of cake.

On PS3 working on turn 8. Probably would be on T9 by now if my group could've started coil2 on time. We spent the first 2 weeks of 2.2 trying to find permanent replacements for our OT, SCH and BRD.

I've tried using the controller on the PC (and recently on PS4)... it's going to take a while for me to adapt lol. And I wouldn't be able to half-ass it if I expect to be decent with it. Movement isn't much of an issue, like how strafing/kiting is easier due to being able to leave auto-turn on and attacking while moving without the game killing your movement input like it does on the keyboard. It's mostly the toggling of commands/hotbars and getting used to triggers to input for me.
