I love when people expect companies to spend money and time supporting old hardware.

They not going to drop support for it right away but PS3 will be dropped at some point just as the PS2 version was dropped on XI

the ps3 is already at its limit, sony can provide no more, and SE cant do any more, this game is pushing the ps3 to its knees, if its ui elements thats fine, but thats mostly general, hate to say it, but try save up for a ps4 if you can, if not, if you have a desktop computer, you can upgrade some parts to bring it up to scratch, go to a microcentre and see what bundles they have for cpu, motherboard, ram (if you needs this) and gpus. you dont need an amazing system to play this game though granted i have a high end system.

you can prob get a bit cheaper, but this system blows the ps4 out of the water like badly and its the same price, and its low power as well.

A. Most updates are "universal" cross-platform
B. PS3 users outnumber PS4 users buy 3 to 1
C. It has not been even a year yet since FF/XIV came out on PS3
lets talk about this in late 2015 lol

Ah, this topic again. Oh you kids, thinking the sky will fall as you cry wolf at the demise of the PS3. Every change they make will be for all supported consoles, including the PS3, with the exception maybe being the plug-in API (though when that happens we don't know). Dropping PS3 support will first require a substantial loss of PS3 players and sure, in such countries as the US and maybe a few European countries that might happen, but the Japanese are incredibly brand loyal. They're still releasing XI expansions on the PS2 over there (so cross at that, I wanted to keep playing on the PS2 version)! If there are Japanese players still playing on the PS3 then Square will have to keep supporting the console, just as they still support the PS2 for XI, because they will likely not be the minority of players many of us (read: selfish arses) would like to believe.

They said in an interview that PS3 support will go through at least the first expansion, so I imagine at least another year. They just might not guarrantee expansions after that.
If you're willing to spend around 100 bucks and the time to transfer/redownload data, I'd suggest buying a SSHD and install that in your ps3. It's not the best solution but it's a lower-cost option which should improve things for you a little.
the only way SE could make the ps3 experience any better would be to physically upgrade the hardware of the console, and obviously THAT isnt happening.
see, im a PC person and I still know that that price isnt real, because you left out many essentials (the gorram HARD DRIVE for starters).
Also if you are trying to tell people to upgrade an existing PC, PC manufacturers make that hard to impossible, as nearly everything in that DELL is propritary and cannot be replaced (I know, ive tried)

why is graphics everything for some of you people?
serious question would love an explanation. seriously you don't need your eyes to have an orgasm
to play this game. i must be the only person amazed at how clear it looks and i never had a super cool pc
before. i'm happy with what i got lol.
i'm sure in a year or so ps4, will drop in prices and have games out actually worth buying for the console.
right now this game isnt worth $400 and i'd drop sub for a while if they kick ps3 soon.
