I am all for the Favor System being a real thing! It would be awesome if there was a special side dungeon or something that you had to complete with your 'Favor partner'.
So Bayohne, how are we doing on the request-o-meter?
Getting wasted with Momodi or the Sultana Nanamo Ul Namo as a fellow Lalafell would be a huge fun

Having read through the thread...
- Yes, it most probably wouldn't be required, so if doesn't like the concept of it, they wouldn't have to pay no mind to it.
- Indeed, the first thing that needs changing for this is our own character, from the mute stoic to something else... we even have a voice we could choose from quite a lot different ones when we created our characters, yet we never once hear it throughout the entire game (meaning story-wise).
- Romance I'm not sure is a good idea or not, but as long as that too would be optional (can go there or go on being friends with whoever), I don't see the harm of it.
- I agree it should definitely not be half-assed, that would do more harm than good. If they do it, I rather it takes longer to get it in the game, but make it good. As opposed to quick-but-poorly-made.
- As for summoning, yeah, that would be odd, either because of OOCness in some cases, or seeing a bunch of the same NPC whacking mobs at the same time. But I'm sure an IC role could be found for each of them to help with, and say a once-a-day summon could work, I think.
- What would be a fun idea and add some diversity to the game is the NPC(s) we're close to randomly popping up or sending us a message requesting our help - procuring or crafting an item for help, getting rid of a mob (could even be a sort of NM), accompanying them somewhere... things like that. (Of course, this would require either quite a lot of ideas so it wouldn't get repetitive like the beast tribe dailies, or being a rare event like once a week.)
Just my 10 gil on the matter, as I've seen a lot of different opinions mentioned.

I've always felt that Final Fantasy XIV really needs some romance elements of sort like the Final Fantasy games of old.
While the system described was obviously a bit over the top, I wish they really adopted some kind of concept like that, and I feel very sad that it turned out to be a joke.![]()
I'm game for a little romancing, as long as it includes Nero as a conquest. He might be a nasty villain, but he's certainly a handsomely nasty villain at least. Some bad guys are worth turning to the dark side for
Though, I think there's about as much chance of a romance system in this game as there is of a Nero x Thancred x Hildibrand love triangle. Hopeful, yet incredibly unlikely.
Would've loved to have this in FFXI too.
Cornelia never got enough love from the team...
Now that we have confirmation of the marriage system how about we get confirmation of an actual favor system as the next step in adding relationships to the game :P
