I honestly think a good fix would be to add two choices
Choice 1) unskippable cutscenes for all, with added bonus of 30myth if they select that option
Choice 2) all cutscenes are skipped automatically which a 30myth reduction
That way people would have two ways to queue up and those doing it for the story won't ever have to deal with people demanding it's skipped as it cannot be

Man, I don't want to sound like I'm constantly ragging on the suggestions here, because I'm not. I love the fact that there are actual suggestions and not just endless whining, but when I see one that I don't think will work, I've just gotta throw in an opinion.

Basically, your suggestion is going to translate to:

1) Hi, I'm new.
2) Speedrun.


Considering how often people complain about cutscenes or want to skip, or only want experience, almost everyone is going to do the following:

1) Speedrun option.
2) Find another, more efficient way to grind tomes due to the 30 myth reduction that doesn't involve cutscenes (see Brayflox HM, Wanderer's Palace, hell, even Amdapoor Keep).
3) Join the one with the bonus and attempt to harass people to skip, then act according to their reaction.

Remember, DPS may suck it up due to queue times, but tanks and healers are often going to bail because the penalty isn't severe in the least.

This ultimately is just going to hurt the people that are looking to clear it for the story even more.

That's why I said make the first option non skip able like the intro to the game is, no way for them to bypass that and for that they get a bonus of myth for what effectively is only a few minutes extra of their time, I can't see many ignoring that option if it's only going to take a few minutes extra, sadly like any MMO people will likely so something if they get something out of it, personally if someone is new I hope they choose to watch it
Isn't a perfect solution but better than leaving where new to 50 get frustrated

I don't think you're getting my point. When you give someone two different numbers like that, you're going to divide it two ways. You're going to have people that will go for the guaranteed "what you see is what you get," and you're going to have "this number is bigger, so I'm going for this one and will try to throw my weight around," people that are going to do it anyway.

People don't report things as it is. Having that threat is not going to make harassment go away. People do roulette in the first place to get the reward. People queue fishing for groups already in progress just so they can get the reward at the end. DPS is probably going to go the safer option and tanks/healers are probably going to throw their weight around because they have insta-queue for most things and will sacrifice a little extra time to get their way just like they're already doing. Thinking otherwise is being extremely optimistic.

This is not going to help anyone.

The dungeons are long enough as it is, that's why people either leave people behind during cutscenes or abandon. If you make it so you can't skip the cutscene at all, people are going to stop bothering because they can use the same time elsewhere. 30 Myth is not going to be enough of an incentive.

Try Party Finder. It's not an ideal solution, but you'll get a group of people who will take it slow and steady.

Not sure how if cutscenes became unskippable that someone could demand you skip, bit confused there.
If the forced cutscenes gave better reward nobody could troll it by demanding you skip as you literally wouldn't be able too

It goes both ways - had one guy in Main Story Duty Roulette watching all cutscenes and demanding the other 7 guys wait for him, he complained when we started without him and called us names.

Its fine if you want to watch the cutscenes in the dungeon, but you'll probably miss all of the bossfights

it's simple watch the cutscenes, if they say anything who cares? if they kick you report them.

Look at it this way: when you have a cutscene, they're handled like this:

1) Click to advance to the next panel.
2) The next panel scrolls after a set amount of time.

If you have option 1, people are going to harass you to click through quickly. Not having to press Esc and select the ability to skip the cutscene altogether doesn't mean there aren't other ways of powering through the content (duty finder popping while you're in one of these cutscenes is especially annoying) and you have to do exactly this.


If you are locked in the cutscene for entire durations while it scrolls automatically, how much extra time is that going to be? Those cutscenes are rather lengthy/wordy. Not going to be worth 30 myth or whatever bonus in a lot of eyes. What if someone afks? Further delays. It breaks up the flow. You're essentially going to be alienating everyone that wants to do the cutscenes altogether. Roulette was introduced in the first place to get people through this stuff; when I was doing these for the first time, before roulette was introduced, I was queued for an hour and a half, on a weekend, in the afternoon. The purpose of these roulettes and all these lvl 50 requests that require you to go back and due obscure dungeons are supposed to be to get people in DF quicker.

If you divide the userbase more between "I want to watch the cutscene" and "I don't want to watch the cutscene" you're never going to get into a long, story-based dungeon if you actually want the cutscenes because the reward at the end is not going to be worth it.

If people tell me at the start that they are new, I assume I am waiting for cutscenes, and any time I am new I always watch the cut-scenes. They need to make a DF option for Speed Runs, or regular runs, or an I don't care option so there isn't a favored pool for or other, because honestly some of us just don't care whether its your first time or not. We just want to enjoy the game and have good runs.
