Just want to say today I totally snapped on the ATMA issue

I only got 3 at the moment but while a I was making jokes on the issue with my FC one member said he is short on 1 for his SECOND atma weapon

So I really raged and cancelled my auto renewal suscription, if this thing dont improve somehow is goodbye Eorzea.

Kret. Not asking them to back peddle. Asking them to respond. Their response could be "working as intended", "sorry it's not changing". As it is however, it feels very disrespectful purposefully remaining silent to the hundreds of posts & many threads regarding Atma.

Have you spent the exact same amount of time farming FATES as this FC mate?

Because if you have not, then your logic is flawed, you can't judge your own progress by the progress of others. You'll need to grind this like everyone else. It's a grind. And let me be even more clear, the grind doesn't end at those 12 ATMA's. Then, you grind myth, lots of them for books, and while you're doing that, you're waiting on FATES to spawn, sometimes for hours.

So really, if you don't like the grind, don't do it. If enough people don't do it, SE will change 'fix' it. But there are other weapons in game that are on par/better/will be better. You don't NEED this weapon to progress your character...nor do you need this weapon this month. So if you are burnt out, STOP grinding. Do anything else in game you enjoy.

I'll answer, cause I have a FC mate who finished his second atma. I'm at 9/12. I spent about twice mroe time than he did for both of his items. So yeah, I totally understand the frustation of Xeros. This randomness is just infuriating for the unlucky ones.
I'd just like to be able to do something else than running around maps to reach FATE. This is getting boring because it is not even remotly funny. I'd rather be farming myth with FC mates, but it is useless for now...

it took me a total of about 82-84 hours to get the 7 I have, it's been nearly 3 days now since my last atma drop, though admittedly I've been slacking a lot more on it. I've found what helps for me is, I just do them until I'm frustrated and then I go do something else for a while, if I feel like it later, I go back to it, they're not going anywhere, I figure, there's no need to be all "omg must get and has nao!" Yes, other people got it, yes probably easier than I will have mine. That's not an excuse to "snap out" on someone else because their fortune is better than mine. That's just being a dick, no offense.

Okay, I'll believe this to be true (it's likely not but that's not my problem as I'm trying to actually help lessen your frustration)

How are you farming them? Like what are you doing exactly? How many FATES have you completed (yes exactly, you can figure this out by looking up your Date with Destiny achievements and writing down the number xxx/xxxx). It seems 30-40 FATES in one zone=1 atma. Some get luckier, some less lucky. In order to grind this many fates in 1 area, you'll need to spend at least 2-3 hours in one zone.

Assume 1 FATE=3 mins to clear = 20 FATES an hour cleared are possible...and this isn't accounting for 'travel/waiting on pops' time.

Now as to Farming:
Do you stay in the same zone farming the same ATMA until it drops (leaving to quest/check retainers/sleep etc fine) but basically only clear FATES in that same zone until you get your prize?
Do you solo or party?
If solo with or without chocobo?
Do you consistantly get 'Gold' ratings on your FATE?
Do you actually stay and clear the FATE you're on before dashing to next or do you dash FATE to FATE?

Now the 'stupid' questions:
Do you have a Zenith weapon equipped?
Do you remember to level-sync down? (Some jobs have abilities that are non-targeted AoE's people like to spam that are spammable without actually level syncing...so people think they did a FATE only to earn no credit for it as they didn't actually damage anything)

I understand the frustration, I can even relate. But I don't buy that if you are making a noble attempt at this 2-3 hours a night, you walk away empty-handed every night. Because no one I know in game who has spent honest time doing this, has had that craptastic luck....and that includes my husband that farmed Central Thal for about 5 hours in total before getting his drop (92 FATES)....

I have FC mates that have 2 ATMA weapons unlocked too...but they actually DID spend double the time farming....and/or farmed effeciently.

Lastly, not to be nosy, but Junta, you only have the achievement for clearing at least 300 FATES, not for clearing 1000. Now grant it, 300-1000 is a BIG range, and I don't have the 1000 mark either...heck you could be sitting at 999 for all I know, but you can't possibly have grinded FATES until your fingers bled if well, you don't have the achievements for FATES. A further look at your FATE achievement History suggests you just recently earned the 300 mark achievement....even if you grinded all 200 FATES needed for that since patch 2.2, assuming it takes 40 fates to earn 1 Atma= about 5 ATMA's.

Now in Xero's case, harder to tell...based on his achievements, it appears as though he used FATE grinding to level a class or two over the winter, but he actually does have the 1000+ FATE grinding achievement. He only got the 1000 achievement a week or so ago, so obviously he's been out grinding. That said, he also only earned the achievement for having all DOM's level 50 this past weekend. So not sure if all the FATE grinding was on a level 50 job w/ Zenith equipped etc. Nor again do I know if pre-patch is was 900/1000 towards that achievement or 100/1000 to it. But considering that you should ave. just shy of 500ish FATES for your full ATMA set (40x12=480), the numbers matter.

The point, without knowing exactly what you do, how many you grinded vs. what your FC mates did and actually grinded, it's very difficult to tell if they just have awesome luck and yours sucks of if they quite frankly just were more effecient than you. Most likely, it's simply a you haven't cleared as many FATES as them

...and btw, now that less people are farming ATMA's, the fates take longer to clear/spawn then they did a week ago....meaning your times will slowly increase to earn each ATMA. This is another reason your FC mate might appear more 'successful' than you.

It might have taken them and you both exactly 50 fates for their ATMA of the Lion...but if they were clearing FATES every 3 mins, and it's taking you now 4 mins every fate to clear, then you will spend almost an extra whole hour grinding the exact same amount of FATES.


All this matters, and effects the perceived drop rates/luck/rng etc.

Please never take a high ranking management position in a company. That kinda attitude there will be tons of people jobless. Seriously you don't think they have a PR department who sole responsibility is to deal with stuff like this?
