I like what was implied by the letter because I hate leves, but I must say that you do have a point there.I don't quite understand how so many people get comforted by Yoshida's empty words of self praise and foreshadowing. Everytime this guy mentions his "super duper amazing" patch and praises himself he provides so very little information about it. As it is the patch is being delayed and now we're closing in on the dates that mark the beginning of the new release date window and we still have nearly nothing to go on. He thinks this letter was a wall of text? He barely even told us anything, all he keeps doing is babbling on and on about his vision for the next patch and the one after that without giving any kind of details.
Hell its only been 9 months, i'm sure i'll find something to complain about. Even after reading a wall of text i could care less about the leves. I want to know the details of the battle system and how they are going to actually have classes be unique. Until they fix that, i could care less about leves.
And i could care less about wow, that game bores me slightly less than 14 does. Though this game going "casual" will probably still torpedo the project. Casual = no sense of accomplishment.

They aren't "upping" SP on leves they are reducing it. They are adding a bonus to the end of some leves in the form of XP but unless it's a 15,000 XP bonus it wont be more than currently failing leves. My reactions to this letter is little bit mixed. I was a expecting a rehaul to the battle system and some parts of the game. A restructure of pretty much everything, I was not. Lots of it I like, a little bit I don't, but overall it looks good.
The main thing I'm not that happy with, is upping the SP on the guildleves. As a primary soloer, I don't want my leveling experience made easier. But from a business perspective, this move makes sense I guess.
On that note, this line looks enticing,
Oooo please, please, pretty please, sign me up. ^^
I'm glad to see that DoH and DoL will not be put on backburner or swept under the carpet. Having these matter and be a cornerstone part of the game is something I always thought was a really nice aspect of it.
I also like that the guildleves will start offering city orientated rewards. I think this is a really nice move, and will help distribute people throughout Eorzea. I just hope they don't up the guild marks too much.
This is what I'm happiest to read of all. I believed with the structure of FFXIV, this could be done, and it's nice to see the plans for it.
To sum up my thoughts overall... you guys have sure been busy, Yoshi-P-tachi. Keep up the good work.
They are shifting to the new age of MMO progression which is focused more on the content than the leveling (like GW2 is doing): sideways character progression as opposed to upwards leveling progression.
Most maps give noting to SP while in party the only thing that give good sp is 10-21 is a type of mob in LL which give 500-700sp. Once you reach 21 finding anything that give over 250sp is hard even with exp chain it going to be dumb sp.If they are talking about implementing XP chains then yes that should be the general idea. Players would be able to:
a) get a light/full party together and run an instance, behest or find a mob grinding camp to get XP. The incentive to do this is that the faster you kill, the more XP bonus you get.
b) solo leves for XP or do them in a party to complete them faster. Remember Yoshida said REDUCTION of bonus not REMOVAL. The XP will not be as great as before but I doubt it will be so drastically reduced that leves will never be worth your time.
c) pickup sidequests or (hopefully daily/repeatable) quests at frontier hubs for XP. They may also optimize some for party play.

Wrong phrase then, I mean the EXP.
Since I primarily solo, leve-linking terms mean little to me. Point is, they are upping the amount of exp you get in a leve.
Unless I am misunderstanding this. If I am, someone please explain better? In light of guildleves’ repositioning as solo-oriented content, leve link bonuses will be reduced. To make up for this reduction, skill points will be added as a new reward for the benefit of solo adventurers.![]()
You're more of a troll than the people who are complaining. People are noting logical and obvious fallacies in the way he writes these letters. You can see over the course of the letters that he has written before that he hypes up certain things and intentionally leads the playerbase to believe that they will be making appearances far sooner than they actually will. This is a major part of what spikes the disappointment of players when they figure out what he is really saying.
OH NO IVE BEEN PLAYING A FREE GAME FOR 9 MONTHS MY LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME EVERY AGAIN. They are posting a Producers Letter every week (most likely each monday) until 1.18 hits the 2nd - 3rd week of July. It will cover all of your wants and needs about the battle changes. Learn some ****ing patience. OH WAIT THATS RIGHT YOUVE BEEN WAITING 9 MONTHS AND IT ALL RAN OUT. /worlds smallest violin from Bard.Hell its only been 9 months, i'm sure i'll find something to complain about. 15k would up the sp per leve, easilyThey aren't "upping" SP on leves they are reducing it. They are adding a bonus to the end of some leves in the form of XP but unless it's a 15,000 XP bonus it wont be more than currently failing leves.

i can see a 5k sp bonus at the end of a leve making it more like how they are now(i can see this number being pretty fair and accurate if they scale leves by rank, since there are currently 5 tiers)
they are rewarding completion with this is all it is, they arent "nerfing leves" after all
of course in the end, itl probly be a huge bonus to some of the lesser leves which sucked for sp beforehand

That is why they are redoing mob distribution and maps and adding exp chains. I never said grinding was optimal now considering the highest base SP (WORTH GETTING) in the higher levels is 150.
