It definitely took us a bit of time to ensure everything is 100% accurate to get this one posted.

3.x for sure, unless, according to the "developers other MMOs who play this game", Sharlayan is an instanced dungeon run since they stated it's impossible for SE to add anything to the world outside of an expansion pack or instances only.

Though I really hope not, it is possible after seeing the last cut scene in the 2.2 story update. We could be sent in (instanced dungeon) to find out what's going on.

They could just make it an instanced area for now and have it as a fully fleshed out area later.

Basically, unless it's an instanced location we probably won't see it until post expansion, since the other topic about open world had people stating it's impossible for SE to new ones unless it's instanced We still have awhile to go till 3.0 so it could be sooner, but 3.0 is most likely considering yoshi said the theme is the war of the magi.
