As you can see in this link it says if you want to continue to play on the PS3 you must purchase the PS4 version "SEPERATELY" as the upgrade process cannot be undone.

Really come on bro use your brain. This is terrible advice and you clearly did not read carefully enough or understand the upgrade mechanics. Obviously the PS4 version is going to be move expensive than the PS3 version and of course SE is going to say buy PS4 version if you want to play PS4 and PS3. A smart person would upgrade their PS3 version to PS4, then just buy another PS3 licence if you really want to still play on PS3. There is no legitimate policy or mechanic that is going to stop you from registering as many licences on your account as you want. Each one actually will give you 30 days of service too. I could only get the collectors hard copy on PS3, and have never actually played the game on PS3, but having registered a PC and PS3 licence on my account gave me 60 days of game time to start. Kinda sucks because I'm always 30 days behind on the veteran rewards. So if you really want both, upgrade your PS3 version, then shop around and find a deal on a PS3 licence + u get the 30 days of game time.

U mind linking where you are getting this info? I thought I read everything that was available pretty thoroughly and did not see anything along these lines specifically mentioned.

I'd honestly be shocked if the option to convert your PS3 reg code to PS4 didn't go live on the 11th, and that would be the only thing keeping a PS3 player from moving to the PS4 on the 11th since your account already exists.

Their system may be set up to not take more then one PS3 key, we don't know. Like if you upgrade your PS3 version you can not enter another PS3 key on your account. No where does it say you can upgrade your PS3 version then buy another PS3 to re add it, it says to play on both you must buy PS4 that is all we know right now.

Would be nice to get an offical response so people can stop speculating on it.

The way it was explained a while back was that your registration code essentially becomes a PS4 reg code. You can obviously have all 3 platforms registered to the service account so I can see no reason why purchasing a fresh PS3 version wouldn't work. PS3 and PS4 are both the same price so there's no monetary reason to lock it out.

they cost the same unless you find some deal on a used copy with an unused code on Ebay or at Gamestop. There's two statements that mildly contradict each other in those details though. The one line mentions no longer being able to play with your CURRENT PS3 copy, which would indicate you could buy another one. The later statement basically says you have to buy a PS4 copy to play both. I'd like to think that the second statement is a bit of poor wording.

You have to have licenses for both the PS3 and the PC to play on both.

You soon will have to have licenses for the PS3, PS4, and PC to be able to play on all 3.

You can convert an existing PS3 license to PS4. You will not be able to convert a PS4 license to PS3, thus the language about "cannot be undone".

So, if you buy one PC, one PS3, convert the PS3 to PS4, and then buy another PS3, you can logically play on all 3. Alternatively, buy the PC, PS3, and PS4 games to be able to play on all 3. Either way - in the end, you are getting one license per platform to be able to play it on that platform.

    Yes
So long you have your active account registered to the PS4.
