I'm not trying to justify his actions. I'm just saying that's what his "something important" could be and that could be why he didn't just leave the instance himself.

If his FC was doing anything 'important' [which should only be considered things that have weekly lock outs, imo. Who the hell thinks farming vanity from CT is important], they should have more than a half hour's notice. I'm sure anyone who has a coil/primal ex static has a schedule. And those who can't afford a set schedule for their group because of wonky work/school hours are going to spend half an hour trying to round everyone up.

Nope. I am part of a group that pretty much just shotguns those events whenever enough people happen to be around, and mine certainly cannot be the only group around that's done it that way.

^ This. So you'll have ample time to get a heads up - If it truly was important, why should the party go through the trouble of vote kick/dismissing you when you can just leave and take the penalty? That doesn't affect other people taking you into instances unless that was changed.

Must not have been so important that he could sit there (not afk from the sounds of things) - If it truly was important you'd take the penalty, because it doesn't lock people out from taking you into an instance unless that's been changed.

I hate giving those kind of players the satisfaction, but I've found that it's better to just kick them if they ask to be kicked. Otherwise you have to put up with them being abusive or obnoxious until you are forced to kick them.

Hence that sentence after the one you quoted. My group's the same. If we all happen to be on and no one's AFKing[rarely], there's bound to be a few people in dungeons already. We just take a break and chat while we wait. If we're really bored and impatient, we just run short things until everyone's free.
