I don't like the selection and error sound effects in XIV either. This is the first time I've thought that about a Final Fantasy game.
What? lol. No this thread is dead serious! That sound is seriously annoying! There should either be no sound.. or something much more low-key.
That soft chime?
Doesn't really bother me. Honestly that seems like such a non issue that if SE did change it, we'd probably get about a hundred people complaining that they're only doing minor fixes. The kind that annoyed so many people in the earlier updates.

How could you use the adjective "soft" to describe it? It's like fingernails on a chalkboard compared to a soft sound. And chime isn't quite right either. I could get by with a chime. A chime isn't like a sharp object on a tin drum. lol.

I know it may have not been the most popular Final Fantasy, but I personally think Final Fantasy 12 had some of the best sound effects for the UI and spell sound effects. Since the team sort of pulled off a FFIX and FFXII look I was sort of expecting these sounds. Oh well, a video below for FFXII sound effects and spells.
