[Fun] Why do you use a female character?

For me.. its because I don't want to stare at a guys ass all day and I also don't want to hear him grunt and moan while attacking.

Also I really suck at picking out names, so I use my GFs name haha.

For me it's more for sounds. I don't really like male sounds all the time when in combat. If it's female or in-between sounds I don't mind.

I used to play sexy female characters. However, this time I rolled a Lalafell, which has no sex appeal and are just cute. Good thing is I haven't been hit on yet

Yeah, the gear/appearance choices have something to do with it for me as well. So, I guess that could be a 4th reason

I look at gear sets like the Bard, Summoner or White Mage myth gear, and it just looks so much better on a female.

WHM myth gear on male characters is so so wrong.

Though my game char is male, there's 2 simple reasons for a guy to play a female char.

1. A lot of gear just looks that much better on a girl... Or just looks atrocious on a guy.
2. If Im gonna spend 2-4-6-8 hours a day staring at an ass... it might as well be a cute one.

Waoh! the sounds, forgot that reason... Did you people notice that aside of the animations, the voice you choose for the char also affects when you hit and all that?...

For example with my char I choosed a 'quiet' type voice, because she's typical quiet catgirl that seems to don't care at all about speaking. And I'm happy to see that it fits, because rarely yells while fighting or struggling, at least not so loudly like other chars.

With my lalafell I choosed one super cute, I think that was the first type? can't remember, but it really fits for her!

In some games, I use female characters for technical reasons. In PSO, there was no male newman hunter, and HUnewearl was the closest to melee/magic hybrid you could get. Sometimes, I use them for tradition, like how my PSO2 character is a female newman because my PSO character was a female newman. Sometimes I use them for aesthetics, because the males look silly or prepubescent or the absurdity of the situation makes me prefer a female (e.g. giant swords with TERA's Slayer class, but that didn't work out when I saw the hideous female gears).

In the case of FFXIV, it's aesthetics. Lala look stupid, catgirls are catgirls, midlander males look like little boys excepting scrunchyface, midlander females are obnoxiously dainty, highlander males have no eyebrows, male Roe look like gorillas, Elezen have awkward animations and the neck (I played male Elezen through phase 3 and just couldn't take it). Might have gone with a highlander female, but couldn't really make one I liked. Besides, female Roe are badass.

Also, related: why would you use a male character? I mean, surely we can't have a bunch of people here who just use characters of one gender because "I'm male/female"?

i play female characters because i enjoy playing them more than males. same as when i was a little boy, i played with dolls with the girls up the street instead of with GI joe with the boys.
i guess that sort of thing has carried on into my mmo gaming. i also really enjoy fashion. well, i enjoy womens fashion, and hair and makeup stuff. mens fashion and hair is always boring and all so similar. girls get all the cool stuff lol.

My main character is male, but my alt is a female Miqo'te only because in the sort of making-of DVD that came with the original game, Nobuo Uematsu is asked what he would play if he were to play the game, and he said he'd play a Miqo'te (female only at the time) and kinda laughed and said it was because he'd want to play something as different from his real self as possible.

My main character I created based on my character in FFXIV, but I didn't think it'd hurt to follow Nobuo on an alt I only play once in awhile X)

Too, the guy's faces seemed either too old or too young or weirdly proportioned... I dunno what it was. I do have a couple active male alts now though.
