Tho as much as i would like DRK to use Great Sword, due to the nature FFXIV armoury system, i rather have Great Sword reserved for some other class.

Goodbye, Final Fantasy...
I made some changes to my post that you may not have seen. Please have a look and see what you think.
I don't understand. When I think of DRK, I see it as a melee DPS job, thus using stats such as STR and DEX. What's all this you're saying about INT?
Let's look at Holy Shield. It uses STR, VIT, Skill Speed, and Parry. A relic shield for DRK could use STR, VIT, CRIT, and Determination. So, tell me again what your concern is?
And an entire new set of weapons....what's the problem with that? New content is a good thing, right?

Was that other guy kidding? RDM was the only other class other than BST that solo Tough Mobs. RDM was one of the most OP classes and balance designed in FFXI. If it became a all out DPS then it would become a DRG (support healer lol) T_T.
It cracks me up when people argue that a scythe is off balance and isn't practical to use in battle, really? and a oversized sword that weighs 150 plus pounds is?

150 pounds? Where did you derive this magical number from, good sir? Are we getting Guts' Dragonslayer or something? Most two handed swords weigh about 10 pounds, heaviest I've ever heard of that was used in battle was around 13-15 pounds. The weight helps with swing motion/force but isn't enough to be detrimental to the wielder as long as they have a certain degree of stamina to tap in to. Two handed swords weren't built to be off-balanced, the only time they are is in anime. It is fine if you want to argue for scythes because you think they look cool or whatever but arguing that they are just as practical or impractical as a greatsword is kind of batshit insane.
edit- Oh wow, apparently Guts' sword is estimated to be anywhere from 250-800 pounds and he still swings it around like no big deal. Anime strength is seriously mind-boggling sometimes. The current world record for a deadlift is apparently 1128 pounds but even then that is a lift up/drop down motion, I can't even imagine how much energy it would take to consistently carry/move that kind of weight in the form of a sword.

The bird of Hermes is my name eating my wings to make me tame.

Hmmm.... I Personally like the Great Sword, back in XI, I really enjoyed using the Great Sword on my Dark Knight. In my humble opinion people can probably argue about great sword vs scythe all they want. but honestly isn't it just down to your own personal preference and tastes?
I agree, they're fighting about what is real and what is not in a fantasy game. This is the crowd that ruins games. They should stay away from the soul series.

Suspension of disbelief can only carry you so far. I also agree that people (myself included) should stay away from the soul series, it is pretty much the bottom of the barrel when it comes to fighting games. "This crowd" won't ruin the soul series, they did that all on their own![]()

Exactly, a Scythe used as a weapon wouldn't make sense at all in this game, but the rest is pretty close to real life, am I right?Suspension of disbelief can only carry you so far. "WOOSH!" Whoa, did you hear that?!
I think it was the sound of the point flying over your head. Suspension of disbelief doesn't necessarily have a blanket application, some people are willing to ignore/put aside fallacies easier than others it all depends on the case.
