Viera are quite popular around the world, so we're considering them. Personally, I would prefer something more beastly, so a new race's appearance may vary greatly depending on if you choose a male or a female.

Slightly off-topic, but the last part of this statement really bugs me. I hate it when an MMO goes for a beast-type race, but the females are crazily sexualized and hardly beastly at all. If they're going to go beastly, do it like the Charr or don't do it at all.

But.. i like female Demons actually look like females...

Charr's are fully "Beast",.. let aside that it is unlikely to choose from a Game like GW2, when SE does have a ton of Races down their Titles, they remind me of Ronso's. Like in the quote they did mention "Dragon blood" like.. well then there would be Gria's.

The Character in the Pic seems to lean towards Viera, mixed with "something" else, to give it an unique feel. Or it is something totally new, like they wanted to try out.

Under the Cap it probably is not a horn, since horns and cloth would not actually "work" together.. they would rip a hole into the cloth and it does not really look "horn'ish" in the Picture. More like ears going "backwards". You can see on the left side a little "bulge" and due the angle there are actually "ears" on both sides. so it is not only one side, like some people suggested.

What puzzles me is the fact that you neither see the hands or the lower half of the Characters, which "could" mean that it would be obvious what kind of Race/Tribe it is.

I'd think its a bunny character.. and the hood is just weighing the ears down. Or maybe they designed it that way so they don't look like Miqo with the ears poking up.. but just a bigger version. I can't stand any hood on my Miqo.

One reason, fanservice. It's the reason why Roe and Highlander females are so rare. Hell I started to make a highlander female in the beginning until I saw her GI Joe kung fu grip. No extra amount of boobs and buns was gonna entice me into making a char that can easily be mistaken for a guy from behind if my hair is short. If I wanted a buff character, I would have just made a male in the first place and I think alot of people feel that way. However, props to those who like it. You can have that all to yourself! lol

Same way you knew Lilisette in FFXI was mixed - Borrowed features and a certain way they act. A 'short elezen' are still very much elezen and would lack features of a Hyur for example.

She's gorgeous. I never got to grace that expansion but I loved what they did with her.

Variety is important. All the human-like fantasy archetypes are covered by the actual races, so having a beast race would be a good thing in my opinion. It would also enforce Eorzea's position as a society that wants to integrate all kinds of sentients into it, something that right now has only been shown in Limsa.
