But there's a purpose to it then, which kills his cynical hypothetical situation.Put the damn cake on the boat for food supply and get away from the damn island to hope for land with people and more food...
Or name the cake Wilson and make it a imaginary friend, then as time passes and the cake disappears shout WILSOOOOOOON and dance naked till you drop dead.
Big Cake + Ship + Cannon (or catapult)
Make the ship, make the catapult and put on the ship, make the big cake and put the damn cake on the catapult that's on the ship and start a food fight @ ocean = WIN
Boat is used for traversing over bodies of water.simple answer you make the boat to go to your companies hide out, you can get attacked on the way, you can craft all the things in your companies hideout, like a large visible cake, that company members can get, say 20 portions of consumable food from, acting like a LS bank for food, with visual in game representations. it really isnt that hard to see a use for a ship and a cake.
Cannons are used as defensive and offensive weaponry.
Cakes are used for food.
It's not like it's hard to figure out.
If they gonna look into it for these pointless stuffs.... rather work on jumping feature which is 500 times more necessary than ships, cakes and canons combined
Why would we use a boat to traverse over said bodies of water with no where to go to that isn't already taken care of automatically? (tl;dr - Serves no purpose currently.)
Cannons are made to break what defenses and to protect what and why? (tl;dr - Serves no purpose currently.)
Cakes are food. Yoshida said food is being redone in light of battle system changes. (tl;dr - serves no purpose currently.)
He's speaking of the current game, not the future.
Incorrect, jumping isn't necessary.
I'm not sure about the cake, but getting together to make big structures using cratfting classes could have been amazing. Imagine the potential! This is definitely the way forward in MMO's, and FFXIV was supposed to be the way forward.
yea essentially my take on the whole thing was, tanaka wanted to create company content, and yoshida didnt think companies served any purpose.
Tanaka: companies will be a cool thing for guilds to do where they have to make thier own props, and build up thier worth, and interact with each other
yoshida: why would anyone want a guild hall, or a boat or decorating the guild hall, sounds like a waste of time. People want equipment.
i can see both sides, but it wouldnt have hurt to have both types of content for different players. Just like some peoples moghouse was empty, some was only full of things that made money (gardening) and some people designed crazy rooms. Have content for all players. Being able to create and decorate a guild is content in and of itself for a lot of people.
they have videos, they have a collection of small islands. Why would we use a boat to traverse over said bodies of water with no where to go to that isn't already taken care of automatically? (tl;dr - Serves no purpose currently.)

they said ships would involve pvp, and you could get attacked while on the ship, IE a use for the cannons
You eat cake, food is in the game right now and serves a purpose.
you are an apologist. Its fine that yoshida decided he didnt want to do companies, and the assoicated activities, and apparently doesnt want crafting to have group applications, but saying that these things serve no purpose is foolish. Building your own guild hall, and all related things is its own purpose.
You can have jump with these features too... what you talking about "pointless stuffs"!
How you going to jump on and off the boat in middle of the ocean + when you shoot the big cake I want to jump onto the flying cake to travel in the sky at 1000x speed....
Flying on cake > Jumping
