    Glamours will be needlessly annoying...

They seem to want to go with a system like WOWs transmog and to be honest, that's probably the worse system out there.

For instance, I have a level 20 pugilist. If I want to keep him wearing the bohemian set for the entirety of the leveling process, I'll have to keep the bohemian set on me at all times and constantly run to the NPC that glamours, or shout for a player to glamour (if they go that route) every time I get a better piece of gear. Also, how will the tin can/robes work? How can you make your tin can chest piece/helm combo look like anything else when their is no actual helm to glamour?

Simply giving us a vanity tab that allows you to actually equipped a set for looks only would be so much better than what they're planning. You'd have your normal character equipment panes and then a "vanity" tab that would allow you to equipped stuff that overrides the appearance of your equipment tab. The vanity tab would consist of a head, body, hands, legs, feet, earrings, necklace, bracelet and rings slot (all the viewable stuff). So, if you want to have a very specific look, and keep it for a while, you simply place that look in the vanity tab and forget about it. You are then free to equip all the new gear you'd like and your appearance stays the same.

Making this system needlessly annoying is not the way to go. I'm sure the system is already created and it's likely too late to change it, but for people like me, who enjoy making their characters look a certain way, the way they're going to implement this is a huge disappointment.

Am I missing something? Have they released details on how this system is going to work all of the sudden? Last time I knew they just said it would be in place. I have no issues with they way they are doing it, if that indeed is the way this system will work. Also this is supposed to bring in some income for crafters and it will help the lowbies out as high levels start queing for low level dungeons for the vanity gear they want.

We finally get a vanity system, its not even out yet and people are already bitching about it. Typical day on the boards.

There was a recent interview that detailed some of this system. It was google translated I remember so it was rough to read, however it worked something like this:

You need to go to crafters for crystals, these crystals would be set to ilevels of equipment similar to dark matter, (all equipment level 10 and below, 20, below, etc) You "copy" the image of the armor to the crystal and put the armor away. You can then use the crystal for the graphic.

Now how will this work from there they didn't say. Here is my specculation:

    * It might be that you have outer slots and you keep these crystals in those slots, saving on inventory space and keeping your look the same no matter what you actually equip
    * You "use" the crystal and it evaporates, but changes the look of the given armor piece you are wearing. Meaning you need to re-copy a new crystal for new armor.

I'll see if I can find that interview link and post it.

Edit: I found a posting of it with a better translation: http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1xt5fz/ps4_media_tour_interview_with_naoki_yoshida/

Honestly even if you did have to re-do it every time it's not that different from now, when I have to dye every piece of new equipment individually every time I have a gear upgrade.

That interview explained a lot. Thanks.

Don't know where OP getting his info about npc or player doing it for you.

Yoshida: In terms of fees for players, players should not be paying a high fee to use the Glamour System. As to how it works, there is a new item called the Glamour Prism which is a crystal that can be used to change your appearance by mirroring the look of your item. These crystals will come in different types to accommodate different gear level ranges, so if you want to assume the appearance of an item that is iLvl 30, you would need the Glamour Prism that corresponded to items of iLvl 30 to iLvl 40. While that is not the exact range, there will be several ranges of iLVLs that each Glamour Prism will work on, similar to how Grade 1 Carbonized Matter, and Grade 2 Carbonized Matter work.

Crafters factor into this as they are the only ones who can make these crystals, and they will bring the Glamour Prisms to market. Players will go to the marketplace, buy the crystal they need and mirror the appearance of their desired gear onto their character. So if you’re a crafter, you can make your own Glamour Prisms. The recipes for the crystals aren’t designed to be expensive, so I imagine it won’t be a limiting factor. Once you copy the appearance of gear that you like onto the crystal, that crystal is now bound and cannot be traded or sold, so the only commodity in the Glamour system are the Glamour Prisms that are blank made by crafters. So as a crafter, you will want to bring to market the Glamour Prisms that correspond to the coolest looking gear.

It should be easy to access for everyone and shouldn’t cost too much, so please look forward

Maybe you should have kept reading the thread a little? Besides, from that interview, it looks like we only need crafters to make the crystals. Not do the glamour itself. So, it will hopefully work out fine. We will have to waste some space on extra glamour crystals it seems (so you can quickly change new gear), but it's better than having to shout for a crafter every time you get a new piece of gear.
