Bit shady to call some servers EU servers, when in fact they're in the same place the NA ones are. Should have just gone with "japanese" and "international" for this model.

Or rename them in NA primetime servers and EU primetime servers

In FFXI, everyone was on the same servers, it added a sense of international community that's sadly lacking in FFXIV: ARR. Segregating our Eurbros from our servers now would dilute it even further.

What is the point of a international community when people are bailing left and right because of horrible lag?

It´s true that the lag for European players are horrible, even if you have a fiber cable connection with 150 mbit/s or more. Sadly it wouldn´t make much sense or difference for most people if they would host a server in Europe. What fascinate me more is that I never had any connection issues in XI and I played on American and Japanese Servers. I think SE just have to invest a bit more money in good servers to keep the community together as one and not separate it even more.

I've a pretty good connection (ping 60-80) to the NA servers from Ireland, but by comparison, I ping 15-50 on EU based servers (country dependent) for EVERY other game.

We have someone in my T5 and EX sell group who plays out of Austria. Does the highest dps in my group, never lags, and is not on fiber connection. The fault is 80% your ISP route and 20% sever location.

I've played many Korean MMO w/o using any service to improve my ping. (Also live in Seattle) I still get around the same amount of ping people are complaining about in this game. Having around 200ping for this game isn't bad, but once you are over 300 you will have issues.

If you having packet loss even before connecting to SE's server then your ISP's lines are bad and going across "the pond" isn't going to help obviously. Not going to white knight SE for not giving EU a server in Germany but at the same time I can respect the decision to place it in Montreal given the quality of their servers there.

+1 an EU server should be... *drumroll* IN THE EU! I joined that server hoping to minimise lag only to find this is SE being misleading at best, dishonest at worst

I vote NO, because FFXI had decent ping worldwide for all regions in one server and creating a new EU server this late in the game would cause a mass exodus of euro players on our current servers. 12am-7am US time is already a ghost town of a joke for Full servers.

The answer is to find a better data center or vastly improve the current one, its a cheaper option and everyone is happy.

Because they totally can't merge two underpopulated servers if this so-called exodus takes place.
