Please see the hundreds of suggestion posts, along with disgruntled folks like the one above me (*Love your METRIC ASSLOAD definition; well hate it but agree with it ;o/.

MAXIMAL FLAWS currently would be the correct definition, with little to zero public response aside from very vague acknowledgements occasionally. "We will look into it" works for a month; then it becomes like that trademark symbol all mmo gamers know well: "soon". Disappointment and no light emanating from the suits' end of the tunnel. Oh, I'm sorry, here let me log in tonight for my 49 minute CT df wait -- thats how I'm counting down my sub, one log in at a time.
If you are going to slice a quote, do it correctly.

If you are a fan of the series and enjoy the game (I also used DCUO as a reference) then you will consider some of the issues others have as minor. Also, if you do not speed through content by playing several hours a day several days a week, the end game content doesn't appear to be lacking as drastically as some others state.

If you take something out of context, make sure you imply that context. It was obviously subjective in nature, and I feel it was clearly outlined as such.

I also find it VERY strange that some of the things defined as major flaws or maximal flaws are brought up in the same "wow clone" conversation while not considering some of the aforementioned "flaws" are things Blizzard would consider "design breakthroughs", because ya know....obvious.

Here are some major flaws imo:
    *Inventory management
*Summoning your chocobo dismisses you from duty
    *Retainer space
*Potion cooldowns and the linking there of
    *One pvp arena
    *No open world pvp
*Cannot trade dl gear for seals
    *Cannot "overmeld" non-meldable gear
    *other

So you see, some people's doom and gloom is merely a yippy dog barking for others.

    I get it OP.

One of the things an MMO community loves almost as much as actually playing the game is speculation, theory crafting and salivating over concept art and sneak peaks of the content to come. At times when the game can seem a little stale it can help reinvigorate one's excitement and love for the game.

Live letters are a huge opportunity to generate hype and excitement for the game. And I agree, this last one was a bit of a swing and a miss.

When it's phrased that way, I can completely agree. I'd love to have more new and upcoming stuff to talk about.

    - summoning Chocobo counts as 1 additional member in your party, hence the withdrawal from DF queue
    - more retainers will be allowed in 2.2
    - Potion cool-downs are synced to prevent the chain spamming of Potions e.g Mega Pot>Elixir> Hi-Elixir
    - PvP isn't the focus of FFXIV
    - FFXIV isn't a PvP centric MMO, as such PvP isn't actively encouraged
    - Might be implemented
    - "Over-melding" non meldable gear affects the balance of gears, even a 5 point increase in primary stat can effectively make an i90 character a i92 character and due to the difficulty of proposed over-melding, it'll be only available to those with the gil to throw around and possibly turning players towards RMT.

Hardly what I'd call "major flaws"

There's a metric assload of other factors that are contributing to the evergrowing boredom of this game though.

-Housing wasn't what the players wanted.
-FFXIV killed the support job classification for adventuring (Don't even kid yourself, a bard is a DPS in this game)
-Since your either a tank, dps, or healer with nothing inbetween... There's virtually no room left for player strategizing other than "learn to dodge, learn the rotation, don't mess up or boot"
-Gear affects what you can and can't do too much in this game instead of augmenting you (IE: WHERE IS THE GEAR THAT ENHANCES ABILITIES INSTEAD OF JUST STATS?)
-Do to the crappy way gear works in this game there is a power creep as others have mentioned, we don't even need level caps anymore if they just keep increasing gear ilvl.
-Regardless of what you say or how you feel, your either a precious snowflake or a white knight on these forums. Not someone who likes the game or is disappointed and just wants the game to succeed or be better.
-I like to rant, especially when no one cares and SE will continue following its grand master plan and maybe every once in a great while listen to its player-base.
    - any statistics to show that Housing isn't what players want? or is it merely what you do not want?
    - there are no promised full fledged support class in FFXIV and the same applies to countless MMOs
    - there are no room strategizing because you've all watched "youtube guides" on how to do it, try being the first few to attempt new content or rely on figuring out mechanics on your own instead of relying on guides if you want to strategize
    - even with gear that augments, players will default to gear that increases stats as it has always been shown to be more effective for general content over abilities augmenting gear sets
    - and with that said, you can be easily categorized as a "special snowflake" and your personal opinions are not necessarily what would allow the game to succeed
    - the player-base speaks without data, without statistics and numbers to back their exaggerated claims, they rant incessantly, complains about every and will never be satisfied, with such finicky player-base, the best advice is to simply ignore them.

We all have different "workflows" as to how we do tasks, whether it be gaming or work.
So please refrain from telling people that what they expect is somehow a miniscule issue overall.

I quit about a month ago because it got too boring and too tedious. It's hard to play a game that doesn't let you do two things at the same time, like mount and talk or open character screen while browsing market, or queuing for DF while companion is out.
I mean, a bloody child can deduce the logic that a companion should be unsummoned when DF queue pops.

Always loved FF so I keep coming back to the forums to track changes in hopes that someday I'll be able to come back.

Let’s look at this a little more in depth.

I think we all know why it happens, but we don’t know why it was designed this way. Currently there is no way to level your chocobo outside of open world content. In addition, leveling your character through dungeons is most efficient. You can que with egi out, why not a chocobo? There’s really no need to further elaborate. You should be able to que for a dungeon with your chocobo summoned.

Again, I think we all know the intention behind the design, but also see the flaws in the design. You do realize that a mega potion, ether, and vitality potion for instance all share the same cool down right? Furthermore, their item description also states different times for said cool down, however if you use a mega potion for instance, they are all cooled down at the same intervals.

This is one example of cross cool downs that seem to be flawed in design.

Never said it was, not sure how you derived at this assumption. Implementing a 2vs2 or a dueling option would’ve been relevant. The one arena they provided is fun I’ll admit, but releasing one lackluster arena overall was a bad idea. Open world pvp for certain fates would’ve been easy to implement as well.

Overmelding non-meldable gear would come at a great cost. Also, over-melding only allows for two melds. In addition, the second overmeld practically has nil chances of success. Adding two strength materia to a piece of gear would hardly make anyone overpowered. You would probably go through 10-20 materias before achieving success to begin with. This would give relevance to materias outside of craftable gear and pvp gear as well.

Want your xyz chest piece to be close to BiS instead of the other xyz chest piece? Done…but at a huge cost…more than likely. RNG would not be on your side, not that I’m a huge fan of RNG, but this is a simple idea that could help add some horizontal progression that many want while dealing with a mechanic that won’t be going away anytime soon. In other words, easy to implement. I mean, we can’t even trade in our dl gear for seals ya know? This gives us something to do with it without making it overpowered.

These are things I would consider major flaws ie correctable design mistakes / gross design over looks / etc. I’m not saying they’re “game breaking”.

Anyways…so much for nothing to talk about lol.

Highly likely that many will disagree - but don't some of you like having these down-times every once in a while, purely from a quality of life perspective? Sure, having lots of content can be fun but often times you feel forced to prioritize it /play it "all" or risk missing out. As an adult, I like being able to get three months to complete content and not feel rushed. The downtime allows me to enjoy other aspects of life and/or other games. Do you honestly want an MMO that is the only game you play that fully engulfs your life? If $15 per month nets me 10 hours of playtime per month I'm fully happy with that (we'd be lying to ourselves if we said we don't still get much more than 10 hours per month out of it).

Is it really such a bad thing to shelf a game for a few months throughout the year? Can't we just accept that that is what type of game this is? If you can accept that; you'll start to see a lot more positive aspects of the game.

It's ok some people just love things so much they end up hurting a series or franchise's quality but certainly not their profits, which is why Lightning Returns is the worst selling game in the trilogy and the whole XIII series is the worst rated but overall it's sold more than IX and other games in the series, can't argue with dedicated fans willing to buy into mediocre products which is why quality doesn't matter anymore, thus ARR was born and will keep up chugging on one leg.

I'll give the game credit, I was having an absolute blast (minus the connection issues around launch day) up until a week or so ago, and then... I got desperate and tried switching to different classes to get to level 50, but I like healing the most, so eventually I'd just log in for the roulette, then log off, and eventually it got to be a week or two weeks solid I didn't even bother to log in. I've started playing again yesterday and today, but I had to switch back to Healer and just grind myth tomes to do it.

Then again... This is sorta what I was hoping would happen while I was still addicted; that it would come down to being a game I pick up every once in awhile and make some progress on. I definitely don't want just 1 game to usurp all of my free time every day. It's a game, not a simulation to live in. I guess I can agree that there's a point where you run out of things to do, I just don't necessarily see it as a bad thing. I suppose I need to go unlock the other hard mode dungeon I haven't done yet, and some of the additional story quests, and make progress wherever I feel like when I log in, and simply play something else when I don't.

Anyone notice that at the end of the newly released PS4 trailer it states there are currently 1.8M players? Wow - I hadn't heard that. Game keeps getting bigger.
