AF2 Gear

Personally, I'd have rather had horizontal progression to increasing item level already. Saying that you don't want to grind for the same gear is a little silly, as it's just a number. iLvl, that's it. Horizontal progression would've had gear like the EX weapons that may or may not have been better for your class or dependent on the situation instead. Doesn't that seem a bit silly to you to say that you'll only play if your iLvl goes up every 3-6 months? They could have easily made AF2 LOOK different but done a different way to handle it, or not put AF2 in the game already.

All I'm saying is, saying "I'll quit if they don't do what I want!" is really, really eye rollingly epic. I thought them going with vertical progression so soon was incredibly stupid and way too fast....and I disagree with games that base themselves on this style of progression, as I prefer the way, say FFXI handled progression. But am I going to be like "Ugh, if they don't give me what I want, I'm going to kick and scream and quit the game! Look out SE!"? No.

I'm not saying you're doing this, but your comment was the cherry on top of the already incredibly complain-tastic community.

Horizontal progression doesn't work with the current iteration of FFXIV. They would have to add a slew of stats to make new gear worth attempting to get. Same item level means same tier of stats and most stat combinations have already been achieved with current gear so new i90 would be pointless. You need the carrot to chase.
