Apparently, just yesterday one of my relative came up to me and asked "Wow you are still playing this? Aren't you bored?" Now that I think of it....I think I am seriously getting bored.
Routine....same as madolyn above^ lol.

How about we reply to this post, give all our ideas for how to better expand and change the game. All in one easy to access post!
- Adding an elemental wheel, and balancing it among all classes and jobs
- Expanding on (repairing) mobs aggro behaviour such as longer ranges, and not just tunnel vision, touch, and sound is important too
- Expanding on the world map, adding non-combat activites such as secret explorable areas, crating/gathering party content, puzzle areas, chocobo races
- Chocobo companions, summonable in dungeons, or dungeons specfically made for you and chocobo

I don't know why people make forums like this when they know MMO's are never a complete game they are a work in progress and for the most part always have elements that needed to be added. OP why make a pointless post when you know from playing other MMO's that Sqaure-Enix won't do anything massive to FFXIV until the 1st Expansion. I've played a ton of MMO's and everyone of them that are great don't massive changes until the 1st Expansion. FFXIV offers major patches every 3 mos adding to the story quest and dungeons what other MMO's offer that you can't because you'd have to go back to WOW
I think that can be credited to them using the generic songs most of the time, instead of the excellent ones.
Battle theme, cutscene music, those 2 we hear the most and they're fairly unengaging as you say, but a large amount of the music is actually pretty solid, just not as common.
And another thing, the music usually fits what the game was supposed to be like, but the game itself can't live up to the music.
For example, the Beastmen areas, Amaljaa and Ixali in particular have amazing music, but the strongholds themselves are uneventful completely, small, not dangerous in the least, I ran through them in Phase 4 at level 18 without a scratch.
Another example is the Grand Company Chocobo Theme vs the Rental Chocobo theme

ARR itself's just awesome but since it's released, its weakest point's still the combat system.
I think the elemental wheel will make the current combat more interesting. If you fear having same skills with different name just make each element have a side-effect etc Fire have burn, Bizzard have slow, Thunder have paralyze, Stone have heavy... Add mechanic like if you use too much opposite elemental attack on a foe (etc Blizzard on Ifrit) it will raise the resistance of that element so you have to use other elemental attacks to put it down. That idea just suddenly came to my mind so SE you have time and resource I believe you can find more better way to do it.
Sorry for my bad English :P

A new MMO without a fleshed out end-game?
This is news.
I wonder the same myself sometimes. Might try checking the next 22 pages of replies. Yours was not the only post.
That is kind of true however SE advertised the game by saying how the game only really starts when you reach 50 which is Endgame. So not having enough endgame content is one thing, but having really bad endgame content is what I'm talking about here. Login do turn 1-5 and primal ex, cap myths. That's all you do, and looking at 2.2, that's what you'll be doing still. Endgame dungeons in this is pretty lackluster especially CT. CT is like doing FATEs and provides no sense of accomplishment for the loot you get in there. Everyone in this game in any job will look the same in terms of gear/looks without much effort, there is no diversity and customization. Feels like these so called 3 months patches were suppose to be in at launch of the game in the first place.
I'd like to see this game succeed but looking at the direction they are taking it, I doubt that will happen soon.
