Job lotting for dungeons

Dunno if this has been brought up before, did a couple searches but didn't find anything so forgive me if people have suggested this...

People have many level 50 jobs they want to gear up and are asked to go to a dungeon as a specific job to ensure a win. It would be nice if SE allowed us to specify a job they are lotting for in coil or CT or whatever that they are allowed to Need on instead of hoping those jobs will pass on it so you can get a Greed lot in.

Ex: Want to gear your WHM that's ilevel 60something in CT. Use your ilevel 85 tank to make the run go smoother. WHM gear drops but you can't lot it.

Honestly, if you won't go into CT with an i60+ WHM, you don't deserve to need the loot...req is i50 and you can heal CT really easily as long as your party doesn't have MT and OT for KB...even then...its not really that hard unless your other heal gets locked-out or catches a case of the stupids (like, stands next to comets while IG is out)...

And i85 tank? Yeah...that's FAR from what's needed too. I can tank KB fine with an i63 WAR, and that's really the only "hard" tanking fight in the dungeon (and no, the heals weren't amazing either last time I did it, since I picked up KB from my party's other, i80+ tank who had died...)

There are two options to get what you are asking for currently in the game.

1) go as the job you want the gear on. CT is by no means hard and 1 person on a specific job will not save a failing run. Since coil 1-5 are going to be in the duty finder soon the above applies as well. I feel like if your class isn't geared enough to complete the content it doesn't deserve the gear unless

2) go with a free company group with pre set lotting rules. When my FC does ct we talk about the gear before everyone gobbles need or greed, for coil we have 2 set classes, primary/secondary nobody does anything until we know who is taking a shot at it and then we decide if it's BiS then primary takes priority. If primaries have BiS from myth then secondaries can decide if the primaries can lot for vanity.

i was only using CT as an example. how about extreme primals? you have those accessories already on your ilvl 85 job, want them for your others. would you suggest avoiding doing those fights on your second job for the gear until that job has gone thru the same progression your first high ilevel job went thru?

So, what's stopping them from lotting the same class you want? Still goes up for Need/Greed then, and what happens when you lose that?

Nothing changes overall.

If you want a certain item and won't play the class that can Need it, you need to play with your FC or a group that has pre-set rules.

1. Create your own party finder and excludes the same job as you (if possible)
2. set up rules for party finder and hope people will follow it, (exp: must be willing to not need or greed for "job" loot)
3. run with your FC
4. use party finder, if there is a same job player presents in the party, asking them what they are looting for.

I hate fighting over loots, so if i found out someone was looting the same thing as me, i would either leave the party or create my own.

I very strongly disagree with this. It's a horrible idea. What that does is make it significantly more difficult for the person who is actually on their job. It's one thing to roll against the other healer, or other tank whatever.

You want to roll on healer gear or tank gear etc. Play the class.

I'm gearing my DRG in CT (since PLD has Valor gear) and if I have to go as tank I either go with my Free Company and they know I'm lotting on DRG items or I look for a group in Party Finder that does not have a DRG as a dps. If I'm forced to go in with Duty Finder then I just queue as DRG any ways. There's a lot of options.

I sometimes go into CT on my SCH and I do make pre-made dungeons for these with Party finder. When the group is about ready to jump in I let them know, "Hey I will be casting lot on X item, does anyone else need it?" If so then I usually say, "Can you please greed roll with me?" If not then just will have to play that class to secure that role.

Most of the time people are always willing to greed. If you make the group, usually people are more obliged to help out.

I think its better how it is now. It forces people to play a variety of roles which is enriching not just for the player themselves but also for others as you get more of an understanding how a role works first hand. This hopefully means less people raging at a tank to use a skill they haven't gotten yet etc. Etc.

Otherwise everyone would just get full heavy allagan armour as a black mage and try and tank without any experience.
