This is my #1 way of making money. So much gil for our FC.If you 100 people, each day gathered 1 map and group up for each map and donated just those proceeds to the fund.
For the FC doing this you could in theory make, on the low end, 1.2 million a day. On the high end, 4 million a day, just from the cold hard cash of the maps.
It doesn't even to have to be each person doing the map... all 100 people could mail each map they get to one person. That one person put a team of 7 other together and just do maps.. all day.
My Coil group does this.. We gather 4 peists each. Then we get together and knock them out. So 32 maps at once. That is almost 400k of cash, in addition to a ton of mats, and 32 chances at bluebird. Takes a couple hours... but it is cash like no other.
Right? Don't know why people keep thinking this is going to happen.

it kills me the amount of times I've seen people suggest to farm mats to increase profits. Every material you farm has a value, so while it didnt visibly cost you anything but your time to acquire the mats, you could have sold them by themselves on the market for their value instead of crafting them, thus you really aren't saving any money at all. You have to look at an item and see if the selling price is higher than the price of ALL combined materials including shards/crystals/clusters. If it is LESS or EQUAL to the material cost, you are better off selling the materials than wasting the time to craft the item. Personally, I don't even touch a synth if there is no profit above material cost

That's true, the market on Balmung is incredibly bad and very volatile. I'll give you some examples.
1.) Right now, Quicktongue materia IV is selling for about 14k, Quicktongue materia III, however, is selling for 25k.
2.) The average price of HQ crafted i70 armor is hovering around 50-60k atm.
3.) Philosophy items are selling for around 2k a piece.
4.) A few nights ago, HQ Alkalurops was selling for 49k a piece when I went to sleep. When I woke up the next day, I hopped on to check my own sales and HQ Alkalurops (the cheapest up) was 119k. That's a price fluctuation of 70,000g in a matter of about 7 and a half hours.
Balmung's economy is so screwed up right now.
We all know the economy is based on supply and demand.
I think the problem is that SE has created a game where crafted items aren't really in high demand.
Since crafted items are not in demand, gil seems to be somewhat worthless.
On Behemoth I see the prices in virtual free fall as the supply goes up and less people are buying.
This should be one of SE's highest priority issues, but I'm afraid it isn't even on their radar.

Actually the materia is like that on many servers. In your example of the Quicktongue 3 vs. 4, the reason why tier III sells for more than tier 4 is because of demand. Tier 3 is used for the WHM/SCH relics, and double melded thus creating more need.
2.0 I made 1.5m gil
2.1 I made about -200k
2.1 has been bad for my gil count.

Agreed. Folks, I think we should all create our own demand. In order to MAKE money, we need to SPEND all our money. I recommend each of us go and buy out all crafted gear until our eyes bleed. Then, once you have acquired said gear you can resell it, paying market taxes, and ....We all know the economy is based on supply and demand.

Hang on, I think we may have a small problem....

We have ways to make gil in the game right now. We have daily roulette which ends up netting about 10k a day, and if you do treasure hunts that's 1.6k times however many people you do a hunt with (which not a lot of people are making use of probably making it so much less gil is coming into the economy). And a single run of a dungeon like Wanderer's Palace gets you 2k, so people doing speed runs in under 20 minutes are bringing in quite a bit of gil into the economy.
I don't imagine much of this is going to make much a difference to the economy in the game in the next month, but I imagine in 4-5 months it'll make it so most things are selling for a good bit more since it is easy to see where the gil is coming in.

Interesting theory, but no that's not the trend most of the other tier III materia follow on Balmung. In fact, in the vast majority of cases the other tier 3s are selling for not only less, but far less than their tier 4 counterparts. Heaven's Eye III is around 1.6k each while 4 is around 11.5k-12k each, Savage might 3 is around 5.5-6k each whereas 4 is about 30k, Savage Aim 3 is 13-15k but 4 is hovering around 40k, quickarm 3 is about 1.5k while quickarm 4 is around 11k.
In other words, no that's clearly not what's going on here.
Edit : Because I figure someone might bring up supply/demand. No, There are actually a lot more (more than double the amount) of quicktongue 3 materia up for sale than their are tier 4.
