Speculation: New Tome Gear?

Is there a one way word in english that means "war history" or "military history"?
Allagan Tomestones of War/Military History sounds a bit weird...
Allagan Tomestones of Strategy sounds sorta good though.

This intrigues me! I found a few possibilities...

Archology - science of the origins of government Since many governments are built/founded out of war, I thought this might be viable, if not probable.
Polemology - the study of war Possible, but not probable since you are adding secrets, strategy, etc.

Anything else I found just didn't fit if it was close, like the study of weaponry.

I hate to say it, but I really dislike the Monk's clothes concept (which seems to be inspired from buddhist traditions). It really saddens me, since I find the AF one really nice. In fact, for this concept, I only like the top and the gloves...

Could it just signify Disciple of War?

I have no idea what went through their minds when they chose that, but I think we're forgetting something.

The current tokens are not called Philosophy and Mythology. They're called "Allagan Tomestone of Philosophy" and "Allagan Tomestone of Mythology". If 戦記 is just a short name like how we use Philosophy and Mythology, then it's entirely possible that the full name will make perfect sense. Remember this is fiction, it doesn't have really have to make sense, it could just "be" and as we use it we get used to it. Like the names of different colors.

The way I interpret it (I'm not Japanese) they're taking the meaning of "Battle Story". So perhaps the English name could take on something along the lines of "Allagan Tomestones of Battle", or "Glory".

PS: with the AF2 I'm seriously thinking of making my female character my main now...and just keep the male one for collecting seaonsal stuff. ~_~ They all seem to look better on the female models.

Will anybody be switching their 'main' for AF2? You kinda got stuck with whatever you chose to spend mythology on, or else you just wasted a lot of time. You'll be able to pick something else with the new tomes.

Thought they were called Allagan tomestones so my guess is that it will be for Allagan gear drops from T1-T5

The current ones are also called Allagan tomestones of .............. as well. They also said that Coil T1-5 is going to have the weekly lock out removed as well as be added to df and being able to select a specific turn. So I highly doubt these will ba used to purchase old coil gear. It will most likely be new sets of gear on par with the new drops from Coil T6-9. I'm just hoping it is af2 and not some random new sets of gear like DL but higher level.

I actually went with DRG after seeing the concept of the af2 and also because i loved the look of the af1, so I'll be sticking with it ^,^

the tank af 2 is weird, I'm quite a little dissapointed by the design.All the other sets look awesome,especially dragoon.

I've yet to see it unless you speak of the Myth Gear (Valor).

That war af2 looks butt ugly. I really hope they change their minds and make it more "judge"-like instead of making us look like preppy vikings.

Well found who they based bard AF2 off from and it is Relm Arrowny from FF6



I know that Summoner AF2 is based on Summoner Race from FFIX

It certainly looks like what a dragoon would wear, and considering that the previous set were shared the design with many classes, this could be the design for both melees and bard.
