I've not read all of your posts, so I can't make a definitive judgement. But from your original post, it seems you were implying that if people wear any gear that isn't the best, or optimal as gear nazis like to call it to cover up their single track minds, it was a terrible choice and it shouldn't be allowed.

Now you wonder why you were getting aggressive replies, and to boot you are calling other people trolls. You Sir, are the real troll. When you go around telling people what they should be allowed to do and what they shouldn't be allowed to do... in your world of fabricated rules designed for people with no mind of their own! Ah yes, this is the real issue. Why are there people who feel like we should all follow an unwritten rule book when we play an MMO? Hmmm? Now that is a truly good question!

It reminds me of something. Something that should be close to the hearts of many players. What do the 'normal' people in society say about your geek habits and hobbies? They tell you it's not 'normal' and it's no good, right? That you are a loser in life. And you get angry about that, don't you? You say they just don't understand that it's what you enjoy. Then what do you do?

You go in-game and act the exact same way to players who don't wear what's considered the best gear!!!! The Irony!

Wow I must say that right there is why most people hate this forums. The fact that you try to create further antagonism in an attempt to display peace and reason is rediculous. You must have had a lot of anger when you wrote that because about 90% of that was based on assumption and harsh reasoning. I'll just say this, if you're paying more attention to my gear than your own role in the party, I don't want you in my group to begin with.

ok....so apparently party roles don't matter and it's ok for other people to be underwhelming in a group. People should earn their high ranking gear rather than wear it early to look super epic coolness. There's no merit in being a higher rank anymore. Everyone argues "gtfo man Imma wear what I want" but really that's not the issue now at this point of the argument. The issue lies in the fact that you're playing an MMO with other people and you're not the only one in the whole server so at least when you're in a group you should wear rank appropriate gear. If you're not in a group with people then do w/e the hell you want. That's the main point.

All I'm saying is that if one player in my party is complaining about another player's gear, guess who's getting kicked? It's not the one getting complained about, I'll tell you that for sure. Stuff like that makes the party no fun, and that's my goal, to have fun.

Yeah and some people like to play the game the best way possible. I hardly see how that bodes any less self centered and immature to kick someone just because they urge someone to gear up better. Besides you're assuming they're a jerk about it and not polite. If you kicked someone just because of that I wouldn't want you as my leader.

How about just worrying about if the party members are performing their role 'sufficiently'?

If they get the job done... who cares about anything else? There's no bonus for overkills, no added benefit to fast kills, and basically no concerns in combat other then that the enemy dies and you don't.

So as long as your people aren't dieing, just worry about yourself, and have fun .

Something I don't really understand is the growing desire people have to looks "fashionable" rather than have better gear. It's pretty shocking how many people just tell me "I'm wearing this because it looks better" even though they are well aware of gear being better for them that doesn't look so stellar >.<. Stuff like this can really make a party suffer and it's quite selfish so I ask why? Why is this allowed? Anyone else relate?

I'm thankful for this craziness. I agree that it is annoying, however it's less annoying than everyone wearing the exact same gear. Solution to problem: make dyes that can color gear after it's made, or take stats off gear and make it materia-only.

I agree with Ventus on this, but only if its actually affecting your battle. If the mage-in-platemail keeps everyone healed and happy, whats the problem exactly? If s/he keeps getting agro'ed and dying, then yes, put on a freaking robe and shield already and quit preening in the mirror! As far as i can see the goal of battle, beyond fun, is victory. So i see what you're saying with this, but I think, and please understand i'm not trying to instigate anything with you here Ventus, that what you are saying sounds a bit territorial. You sound like you want to show your status (via high lvl gear) and resent it when ppl display the same status symbols without the assets or history to back it up, which i totally understand! tell me if im wrong, dont mean to mis-represent you. i just feel that ultimately: job performance > job uniform. though i suppose you might feel that job uniform has a direct effect on job performance, beyond player's focus/skillsets?
