Of course old content is going to be nerfed. They don't want people getting stuck and being unable to experience content past it.

When they release Turns 5+, it'd be pretty pointless if only 10% has beaten Turn 5 due to its current difficulty. Turn 5 will be made easier so the majority of people can clear it and experience the new stuff.

    There's nothing wrong with that.

i think this was probably my favourite game of last year, but some of the backwards decisions they are making may just kill it before it has a chance to succeed. i aggree that the mmo business model is very hard to sustain but said decisions (housing, broken pvp, patching in irrelevant low level content, nerfing classes that dont need it) is just more salt in the wound.
they had a very good grace period so far with no new mmos coming out and no competition. pretty soon we will have multiple jugernauts joining the fray and they really need for these patches to be amazing. 2.2 doesnt look very meaty so far but i will reserve my judgement and hope they manage to suprise us

    Which juggernauts would that be?
I know TESO is coming but based on witness accounts from various beta testers, I wouldn't hold much hope for that being a huge success.
    What else?

For a MMORPG, 5 months are nothings. The game is still fresh

I'm just here reading and laughing at the person who brought up a survey from 2009.

I think there was quite a strong need to go down this path from SE's perspective.

After the average reception for FFXIII and its sequel, and the disastrous launch of FFXIV, they couldn't continue to take risks with their flagship IP. Yoshida said that another mistake like 1.0 FFXIV would finish the company off (IGN).

Going off on a tangent in the MMO world is a huge risk. Look at the Secret World. That was a pretty standard MMO but it was still too weird to gain any kind of mass-market appeal, and now it's F2P.

It wouldn't surprise me if SE continue to play it safe until they recover whatever stupendous sum of money FFXIV has already cost them. After that, we might start to see some more 'out there' features, like Lalafell trebuchet.

while it may not have the impact that wow had or has even with its dwindling subs now its something new and I'm sure will make an impact and will take away a lot of customers from SE if they come back will remain to been seen but i as do many I'm sure feel unless SE pulls there finger out of there arse for 2.2 and gives us something worth coming back to i fear that they will lose because in all fairness most of will go and at least see what teso is offering.. skyrim has a real appeal about it couple that with a mmo platform its hard not to have a winner or at least something better than what SE is offering

If you play the ESO beta you'll quickly change your mind about that.
