whats best way to makey money in this game?

i just started it out monk and only have 5k cant even buy new knuckles lol i tried to find how to craft them but it says i need to be rank 10 Goldsmither doesnt that take 10 days to reach rank 10? so i will be with low level for long time?

Selling shards is always good. Levequests can be decent coin too. Doing Behests can net you like 5k per 30 mins as well and it's great SP especially at lower ranks.

You can get R10 GS in matter of a few hours. Local leves can level you up fast for free. They give all the mats to make several items.

FFXIV gives you lots of gil just for playing the game.

-Do your 8 guildleves every day, each will give you gil and SP.

-Do 8 local leves (crafting) every day---even if you don't like crafting---'cause they're fast, easy, and give you more gil (and shards, which you can sell for more gil).

-Go to a Camp appropriate for your rank, and sign up for the Behest every 30 minutes. Each one will give you lots of SP (up to R24, then considerably less SP) as well as 5k ish gil.

-Kill mobs in between other stuff for extra shards and/or crafting materials (to use, or sell)

-You can kill sheep (south east of Limsa) from R1, and they drop wind/lightning/water shards, and sheepskin (~7k each in wards)

-You can craft your lightning shards into wind shards from R1 Alchemy for profit
-Alternatively, rank up whatever crafts you want to---most of them make gil just by selling stuff to NPCs.


Gil is the absolute last thing you'll need to worry about in this game. You can rake in 100-200k every 36 hours doing leves quite easily.

I am at a stage when I cannot profit doing the fights, leve behest etc. It is costing me more to have my swords repaired. I have no clue on how much is best to sell certain items in wards. Sometimes I just hope seeing someone seeking shards etc so I make gil from that lol.

Jay, are you using a sword with an "Optimal Rank" above your rank?

Using a weapon with an Optimal Rank above your own causes it to become damaged much more quickly. If you use a sword with an Optimal Rank at or below your rank, then the durability loss is much, much slower. As long as you're using level-appropriate weapons, you should be able to go through days of leves and behests without needing to repair.

If you're trying to figure out how much to sell items for, use the search feature. See how much others are selling the items for. If no one else is selling the item, try checking Yellow Gremlin. They list the average prices of several items.

I check ffxivpro.com to see prices, but no one has bought anything yet XD not like ah in ffxi lols. Some gear I can't sell because its not at 100% mint and I have no clue on how to repair 0.o

Both ffxiv.yg.com and ffxivpro's bazaar/market ward database are woefully out of date. You're gonna want to rely on the Item Search for your prices. My suggestion? Get a notepad to write down the items you have to sell, then you can jot down some prices and speed up the process. I personally use windowed mode and a free program called sticky notes for all my note taking needs.

As for repairing your gear since it is dark matter grade one, you can always just go to your inventory search for the damaged item>seek repair (set price at 1,000 gil). Have it repaired, there are no weapons in the game that are worth less than 1k gil except for the starter weapons.

Hi Jay! Money making has changed with this crazy economy and with the recent patch.

I find that lower rank weapons sell pretty swift. I have old prices in my head, so when I throw up a rank 8 bow for 7000~8000 versus the next lowest price of 150,000 and 200,000 if I recall correctly, it sells.

Now maybe folks bought my bow and are repricing at the higher value. Maybe that does sell. I just can't fathom paying more than the NPC price to buy that low of a weapon.

I'm still adjusting to the new economy myself, but all of my rank 8~15 weapons and tools sold within hours of throwing them up. It might only be 40,000 I made off of them, but I'm pretty sure I didn't spend that much to make them or buy them from other players way back when.

Yeah I have been writing them down. I love item search, kinda reminds me of ffxi ah which was easy. My stuff isn't selling that well but in my server at Limsia L when you look at items in item search is only few items shown! Ul'dah had twice the amount of stock. Wish there was a place like Jeuno/toah so we had the best market in sales.
