ZALERA SERVER HAS 745 PLAYERS CURRENTLY ONLINE. SERIOUS PROBLEMS

Zalera server is a ghost town. I rolled on this server 'accidentally' on the server launch date (sometime around 9-12-13) i didnt know it was a "low pop" server until a couple weeks after playing, and at that time, the server did not seem low pop at all.

Uldah/Limisa/ and Gridinia WERE ALWAYS filled with people running back and forth between retainers/ the Inn and the Grand Compnay location. The Crafting guilds where FILLED with pings from hammers hitting anvils, The starting areas outside the big cities were filled with players running around killing lady bugs, or beckoning a animal. Mor Dhona was FILLED with 50's, Coerthas (or however you spell it) was a snow ridden mountain FILLED with life from other players doing fates, or just questing.

Started playing again a little after launch of 2.1, All of these things are empty now. My guild i was in disbanded and my friends list of 14 people is always empty from no on playing. (not ????? like they deleted there toons) the big cities are EMPTY GHOST TOWNS. making the game feel boring now. it was fun to see tons of other people playing the game. All the areas are quite empty. Mor dhona is empty. You get the picture EVERYTHING IS EMPTY. We have 3 houses in our server, all 3 small cottages in the mists. How is everyone's else server? How many houses are there in your server? what do the cities look like? i know Fates got Nerfed but i should still see some happening right!?!??!?!?!! seriously going to be transfering out of this ghost town and want the FULLEST/BUSIEST NA server i can choose from. I really enjoy the social part of MMO's and thats a major part of a game like this. ESPECIALLY with newly added housing. I want to see a mansion!! or even the medium sized houses.

    Cactuar is doing decently...

Using housing as a metric of any sort at the moment however, is a terrible idea.

I know what you mean and I feel your pain. When I 1st got the game there was a lot of players. Now many towns except for hot spots like quarimill, coerthas or costa del sol are pretty baren.

It's not uncommon to go from one zone to another and not see anyone, which is sad because these zones are nice.

I am considering transfering to a different server, but for now I am satisfied

How do you know how many players are online? the game hasn't told you that for years. Also, at any one time that number is not that low.

Part of the reason the duty finder exists is to ensure the game is still very playable even with differering population sizes.

Although I hate to say this, they could however borrow a page from WoW's book and offer limited free transfers from high pop to low pop servers. But there will always be differences in population size between servers, and there's nothing wrong with that. some people prefer a quieter setting while others love the hustle and bustle.

Honestly, this isn't a good idea only because you're going to make it worse for other people, like a snowball effect. The high pop servers are full enough as it is (For every server with a low population, there is one with a high enough population to have login queues) and more people transferring to them is just going to increase lag. Free High to low pop server transfers is a good way to reduce this problem.

Do you really enjoy the lag? Everyone wants to be on the highpop server but there comes a point where adding more people degrades the user experience.

Additionally, most servers including the high pop ones don't have any housing built up yet. I'm on one of the highest pop servers and the housing areas are still empty. Nobody wants to pay the outrageous prices. Thus, moving to a higher pop server isn't going to let you see the housing any sooner.

Zalera server is a ghost town. I rolled on this server 'accidentally' on the server launch date
How could you not know that a brand new server wasn't going to have as many people on it as already established servers?

It's a combination of things. On a game's launch there is always lots of people then it slowly declines to a stable amount. Perhaps that's happened already. Most people have levelled up to 50 so it's only 'alt specs' left. FATES used to give the best XP and now it's instances; it doesn't matter now much XP they give as long as it's more, even a little more, people will jump to that.

    Hyperion currently

Off hours on NA server: 2257 (and I do not think this includes those on "Another World" with duty finder) but I could be wrong.

But even so that number off prime time is not bad.

I play on Zalera, but I always seem to find plenty of people to spend time with there...

Using Search player function. Search each area independently and added up. Each area had less than 200 players in it allowing me to add up all current online players. Quite low actually as at the same time i did this on Zalera, i did the same thing on Gilgamesh & levithan ( i know two big big servers) and each area capped at 200. Most areas in Zalera where around 70-80 players. Yes i know what you guys are saying "that doesnt count all the players in (the other worlds) pvp, dungeons, guild heists ect" Yes it doesnt count them all BUT it does give you a good idea at what your servers pop is compared to the others. and it is less than HALF of what is on on other servers.
Dutys are not the problem as i stated, Combat Gameplay is fine, its the feel, the play of the world. As you stated everyone has there own preference some like quiet empty servers, others like full, hustle&bustle (like you stated ) servers, and im one of them.

And if you think i bought this game (and then repaid 15$ recently to play again) to just kick myself in the ass for other players to still have fun then you need to get your eye sight checked, because you read the wrong thread. Just because it can cause a effect on a server that is dead in the first place. Yes that is the better problem solver but we all know SE wont be doing that so in this day and age. If you cant transfer off the server with me, its yours and SE's problem.

your right, seems like this is EXACTLY what happened. i just came from years of WoW so i was used to thousands of players on 1 server, and where players werent used to or OK with less than a thousand players on a server, that is just insane, horrendous for a MMO. Seriously.
