It sucks that people are ruining the community like this

Last night I went into duty finder for some Ifrit Extreme practice. After a few tries and watching a video on the fight, I felt pretty ready to take Ifrit down....but why did we fail? Somebody (a healer) joined duty finder to purposely sabotage the runs and promote selling carries. A fellow FC member joined me on the run in DF and jokingly asked where he could buy carries from and the guy who kept getting us killed told us that his FC sells runs for about 3.4 million gil. I think he knew we were on the same server that he was on, for some reason. Maybe he looked us up on Lodestone and commenced to ruin the run? idk

I laughed and thought he was joking around, but I didn't realize it till later that night that he wasn't. I started a Party Finder group and he joined a few times. He would leave after a few tries, go into an instance (im guessing somebody else's party), and jump back into our party after a while. The heals were terrible and the tank noticed that this guy wasn't healing as well as he should be. When we mentioned the heals were bad, he "picked up the slack" and healed us the way he should. And things went really well! No deaths and nobody was getting hit. However, after the big nail phase, he purposely ran into us with that debuff that Ifrit casts on healers right after the big nail exploded and didn't really bother to recover from it....which he could have easily done so.

I get that he's desperate to make gil, but why waste people's time doing so? Is this a common thing in MMOs? ARR is the only MMO I ever really got into, so I wouldn't know. Have any of you experienced this kind of behavior?

report him and his free company. explain to the GM his methods and exactly what he was doing. this kind of behavior has to be dealt with.

I played Lotro and Wow and FFXI and the only other one of those I seen this type of behavior was in FFXI with world NMs. It seems to be a FFXI/FFXIV thing imo. I have tried other mmos too but not as long as those I mentioned. With those I have over 7 years each of dedicated playing. While I will admit to some bullying goes on in the other games at times it is not as rampant as it is here nor is it as Sadistic and all for the sake of money. This was just my experience however and others might have a different view.

Blacklist him, if he's on your server you won't see his communications and I don't think he can join your party finder groups.

If blacklisting him means he can't join my party finder group, then I'd do it. I guess I'll experiment later to see if blacklisted people can join my PF groups.

3.4 million? Is he high? People sell Turn 1-4 clears with complete loot rights for 1 million. I've seen Extremes go for as much as 400k but to pay anymore is sadistic.

Also, this type of behavior is very unacceptable and needs to be ended. There should a be a secondary kick strategy implemented after "x" number of kicks from Duty Finder you are prohibited from joining any Duties using the Duty finder for X amount of time that starts out low and builds up. If you are against this kind of implementation then you are clearly under the microscope. Not to say it couldn't go back down if you want to amend your ways but maybe it puts you on a lower priority for queues or something?

    Just some ideas.

There's an old saying my father who is wise in his years once said. There's a sucker born every minute. While this guy has a very terrible form of advertising (that should be punishable for griefing tactics) the only way selling runs would fail is if people stop buying them.

This is consumerism stupidity at its finest.

Selling runs should be dealt with imo or at least have some sort of penalty.

Just make it a bannable act. People selling runs is not playing the game as intended after all. I'm sure it fuels RMT too.
