If you're talking about Basketball Shoes vs. Sandals then the difference is quite substantial.

Someone else mentioned it but this is very similar to gearing. You wouldn't purposely gimp yourself by not upgrading your gear. Why would you purposely gimp yourself by not getting the xclass skills that make your class more useful and powerful?

You get gear as you get gear. Look at all the QQ threads about that issue. This debate is more like "LFM Titan HM, must have +1."

Like I said, people should plan to get the skills that will benefit them, and this is one. But it's not mandatory, and probably isn't going to be a game changer more than 1% of the time.
