I completely agree with you, Kam. We all just need a bit of patience and understanding. Working with SE and doing your best to support them is the only thing you can do that can positively affect the outcome.
"Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution."
"My life is a chip in your pile. Ante up."

OP's tldr:
I don't like how the forums is being used primarily for complaining Square-Enix, do something about it!
In turn he is complaining about complaining and thus furthering the cycle, now that's irony!

We definitely need better than textbook answers to our questions..
An example here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...Alpha-Problems
I reposted that bug report today after waiting months to see if it would get fixed or if it would at least get added to the known issues sticky in that forum.. nothing. I might not even be so irate about this except that the original thread I made on it was the very first bug report on the forum. I'd have thought that the very first bug reported would have at the very least been acknowledged in the known issues thread by now.. but no, apparently not.
The whole "we're looking into it" jazz is far too textbook a response to something like this. I want a straight up "Yes, we're aware of this problem and it's being worked on" or "No, we weren't aware of this. We'll add it to the list of currently known issues and get back to you on it later." Something a little less vague would be nice. It's just too often that Customer Support use textbook responses like this as a means of brushing off the consumer.. It's just a way of making blanket statements to try and keep people complacent, without anything real or meaningful to support it.
I don't mean to bad mouth the people working here, though.. It's not their fault at all. It's whomever came up with these strict policies that's to blame. And the response I got this time was at least marginally better than what I got originally I admit, though they still didn't give me better than "we're investigating" - which after three months I'd have hoped for more than that by now.. But why does everything in that forum need to be locked anyway? Why is that little template thing even necessary (necessary to the point of your report being ignored until you fill it out) when half of it is irrelevant to what most people are reporting? Do we really need to fill out what Platform we're using? The policies here are.. Well, dumb.

If the developers updated, provided information and the Community Managers actually got some decent replies, there might be more constructive comments.
But it takes about 2 days in total to wash out any "constructive" conversation from some news, and news is not coming every 2 days, its coming every fucking fortnight.

I don't even understand your topic.
I read it 3x and still asking myself "What is your point?"
That's what your thesis statement and conclusion should convey, but neither do.
You don't like the forums? You expect internet forums to be productive?
This is somehow Bayohne's problem? I don't know what you're saying.
I hope Bayohne does since you called him/her out by name.

Agree.
Are you saying Square Enix should be more forthcoming with information so we can be more productive with responses?
I mean if that's what you're saying, I 100% agree, but I'm just pulling at straws.
To expect a Final Fantasy forum to not be fraught with fan(boy) drama is to set yourself up for disappointment. It took the better part of the 2000-decade to teach ME that and as a result I dare not name [FF6+1] because I know it will derail an entire point simply by the train wreck mixed with vultures come to feed on said train wreck that it will cause.
To expect an MMO community not to be fraught with arrogance, elitism and epeen measurements also seems unrealistic (and sadly so) so that's another measure of drama you're sure to find here.
Run it by me again, though, what are you saying as concisely as possible?
Ask yourself this, in todays current job climate, would you jump at the chance to be a community rep for Square Enix, the sinking ship that it is? The company has already suffered economical losses and redundancies, I hardly think there is a queue of people waiting to apply for the roles.
You can be as smart as you want with your comment, but it doesn't deny the fact that there just may not be enough people applying to fill these roles. I know I wouldn't work for them right now.

What you're doing is expecting the INTERNET to be more mature and productive.
I ask that you calmly and deeply reflect upon such a request. You'll soon realize how ridicolous that sounds. And ironically this very thread isn't "productive" in the very slightest, so to me you're just a victim of your own thinking.
What we need is stronger moderation along with more replies from the community reps.
However, we wouldn't need those in the first place if we received a more reliable and steady source of information, like screenshots and actual in-game features that are brought to completion.
"We're working on it" only works for so long.
Again, go apply then. I get the feeling the lack of information is most likely due to not having the staff to fill the positions. I know that a friend of mine that worked for SE in london left recently. He said it felt like working on the Titanic the day it set sail. Everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that it's gonna sink. What you're doing is expecting the INTERNET to be more mature and productive.
