Pretty discouraging actually, I think twice now about making a positive comment, whether it's worth the potential flaming and negativity or not.
I wouldn't give a flying f*#& what anyone else has to say about my opinion, and neither should you. Let them flame. You have a right to post positive statements if you choose. Don't ever be afraid of saying what's on your mind. It's not like you're going to be friends or know those trolling dorks in real life.

Anyway, back on topic.. I think FFxiv has great potential, but I agree with what Greencactuar said. I think FFxiv's uniqueness and ability to not be another WoW clone was overshadowed by the many flaws that weren't fixed during alpha and beta phases.

I wasnt trolling when i made this thread lol, but yeah given the general mood around these forums, i can see how every positive comment can be taken as an attempt at sarcasm and dissimulated trolling.
I enjoy the console rpg feel of the game, i love the story so far, very interesting and touching, and i like the game system which is so different that it feels like im playing an mmo for the first time.
It is unfinished and unpolished yes, but i would like to see it finsihed in the same direction it was started.
I would hate to see attempts to turn this into a standard type mmo, as it stands, it has the originality and uniqueness on its side.
I know its too early for me to tell, but so far it looks like the only problem with this game is that its unfinished, it was released too early and they working on that right?
So why all the gloom and doom and everybody calling everybody a troll?

That's how I feel, I don't see the purpose in attacking my ranks... but I do enjoy and have fun with what I am doing! I love helping people, and I know it also helps them and gives them a good experience in the game as well!

I agree with you to be honest... and yeah now a days you never know if someone is being serious or just trying to be sarcastic and people just can't tell. I'm glad that you posted again and said that you were serious about liking the game.

I agree that I like the feel of the game, and the unique game play that it has... yes it is an unfinished game, yes it was released too early but yes they are working on these issues! I would hate for them to make this into a clone, like so many other MMO's are, and I would like them to keep that unique feel and different play style that it has. They just need to clean it up, add content and finish polishing up the game.

I don't know why there is so much doom and gloom, I'd rather try and stay positive and hope for the best but expect the minimum. XD

As for everyone calling each other a troll... I have no clue... >.<

Right on Bro! I made a thread saying the same thing earlier. Thank you for the support.

And Kai, thank you as well for speaking up for those of us that don't spend every minute in game getting the most SP for our playing time. I too log in and will do whatever. For me Eorzea is a little escape I get for a few hours every night after I come home from work, have dinner with the family, and put the kids to bed. I can respect people that play MMOs like it's a job, but it seems we are always looked down on for playing them like a hobby.

I agree! While I can respect those who want to get to 50 that is how they want to play. But games are also about then journey... that journey is to be enjoyed and as long as we are enjoying it who cares about the pace we take it at!

Yes pacing in an MMO can vary greatly and its awesome that you like to take it slow and help alot of people along the way. The community needs more people that will do that, however the true problem is that the "journey" is not appealing to a whole lot of players, and a feeling of community is no where to be found. Unless someone happenes in to a LS, some of which make you jump through hoops to join, interaction is at a bare minimum. Unfortunately the community in the game is in such bad shape that it really does not do a good job at retaining players for a prolonged period of time.

We have a really nice feeling on our server and a lot of the shells actually have made friends with one another and we help one another. Our shell has a good sense of community to the point that we look at one another as more friends/family than people just playing a game together online. We don't make people just though hoops to join and we have about 80-90 members that are active, as do activities a few days a week that people do turn up for. We have dedicated crafter and gatherers that support and help the whole shell.

Actually my shell is a reason why I have stuck around, they are good people and bring the fun and community to the game that it is missing, along with other people on the server from other shells. We have been fighting NM's and had other shells run up and politely ask if we are still killing, we have either told them we are, and will /tell them when we are done, or one time we even told them that we had been killing it long enough and they could have it, then left. That is a good community, and I am lucky to have these experiences.

I've been playing games for over 25 years and I have been playing MMO's... gosh for probably a good 10+ years... lol I have even done text based games before online games were popular. Maybe I am just lucky with my situation, and I do see both sides of the coin because I understand the game needs fixing but I also see that they are trying. Until SE either crashes and burns, or they do bring this game to where it should be as long as I can be with the community I am in now I'll be happy.

As someone who had played many MMOs, quite a few from beta or start... I can say this game was released to early and it does need finishing and polish. They need to add content and fix it up, but the game is not lost... it's a good base and the improvements they have done at this time have helped the game. As long as they keep moving forward I will remain positive about the outcome, but always remember there are improvements needed.

I like your attitude, and you are a lucky person alot of people are not in a community network like your unfortunately. Hopefully more of that can pop up on other servers en masse.

Its nice to see some positive attitudes about the game every once in a while, it really is. The unfortunate thing however is that saying the lack of polish and finish in this game is ALL that is wrong with it is statement an MMO vet can not truely take seriously. The gloom and doom is well warranted because if you have been a part of other poor launches you would know that more often then not poor launches get plug pulled. What alot of people forget is that this is a VERY expensive game. If they cant pull the revenue in this effort to make it playable, we very well may see this game pulled. The gloom and doom comes out of launches like WAR, AOC, Tabula Rasa, The matrix online, not to mention the further harm these updates may end up causing in the future, for example Star wars galaxies.

The mmo world is a fickle on and i guarantee you if this was not a numbered FF game the plug would have been pulled, and if it was a small company it also would have been pulled. It is up to SE to see if they can fix this game, and im very excited to see where the game goes, however the positivists cant disregard all negitivity as trolls, for alot of it is well warranted and those who are positive dont understand how close this game could have been to shutting down. Its just something to think about and so you have a perspective of why there is glooma nd doom.
