I think the intent of Duty roulette was that you play with other players.
My friend was would of prefered to team up as well but i did not mind
It was sort of refreshing.
Perhaps later patches they can add some sort of an option?

Not being able to use duty roulette while partied with said loved one doesn't stop you from playing with them. It isn't like roulette takes you to some exotic content not otherwise available to the masses.

I believe the whole point of it was to get solo players through the queue faster which is why you have to queue solo.
