Cracked materia will have a huge impact on a non-legacy server. Think how many people are holding cracked T4 materia (like myself) waiting for an opportunity to cash in on it.
I don't really want to see Legacy -> Non-legacy become possible, even ignoring the economy reasons which gil caps do nothing to prevent when you can often make a profit by checking the AH on both servers before transferring and buying appropriate items, Legacy players have plenty of exclusive rewards only available to them that would be awkward having on non-legacy servers which people started on to have a fresh start

None of these arguments have any real basis. Economy is different on any server legacy or not. As far as old items go any player that did any research into mounts and that they already know these items exist rather can get them or not. Simply saying that friends should transfer to a legacy server isn't realistic either. Some legacy servers have been near impossible to get into from start leaving no choice but for them to start elsewhere. Where as most legacy players(especially those on jp legacy) have played with intention to transfer pretty much from start newer players have settled in and built communities where it wouldnt be moving one person but a bunch to satisfy a group playing together. The only logical thing would be if there is a technical issue that is getting in the way of these transfers in which case they should let it be known cause at this point might as well be saying the just dont care as much about there older players.
Remove calamity salvager from non legacy servers then, no reason to have them when nobody on the server can use them.
I haven't logged in for over a month (let my subscription lapse, waiting 'til I can transfer), but as I recall, I had less than 300k gil and no tome mats. However, I understand the possibility of rich characters buying a bunch of tome mats before transferring (though that'll drive the price down, which I think is better for the majority).
Judging from the just-released FC housing prices, SE seems assume I have a lot more gil. It makes me wonder what the actual wealth distribution is. If I had to guess, I think it is similar the real-life U.S. wealth distribution, with a tiny percentage of the player base holding onto most of the gil. If only SE could audit characters for lack of wealth, judging from their gil AND their quantity of expensive mats, let them move.
2.1 has been implemented, so maybe they can try to address this legacy world emigration issue (maybe after the housing works its magic and decreases the overall gil in legacy servers--c'mon, rich players, buy houses).
I've stopped logging in as well. I've unsub'd, etc. The economy is a bullshit reason to not allow the transfers. There are plenty of people who have said they'd be willing to have their accounts stripped of ALL their gil/sellable items to be allowed to transfer. I just want to play with my friends. But, at this point, the transfer service has been out for a while. The first major content patch has been released. AND STILL there is no set date on transfers off of legacy servers. What in the holy fuck is the point in wasting time and money on a game that refuses to let you play with the people you want to play with? Done wasting my time and money with SquareEnix.
But why are non-legacy player allowed to move to legacy servers and ruin our economy? and more importantly, why are non legacy players allowed to ruin economy of other non legacy servers?
Does not make sense to me, oh, and I would be willing to give up every sellable item if I could just transfer and play with my friends
Anyone can do research and buy items that will make a profit on their new server, T4 is easier to convert now, 2.1 brought a stable income to everyone including non-crafters, and the majority of people have multiple crafts at 50 anyway. It's been long enough, just let the people trapped on Legacy servers play with their friends already.
Is this a real? Like, people are against Legacy>Non Legacy transfers because of exclusive items?
Better separate Collector's Editions owners to their own servers then. How dare they have adorable Behemoth minions where I can see, but never touch.
