Would it make you feel better if I made the same comment from an alt on Excalibur? Because I certainly would.
This game is in good hands, and this forum is full of hysterical babies.
Everyone will have forgotten that this was ever a big deal by the time the next content patch rolls around.

Another one from the cheapest servers that comes to run his mouth. How convenient.
Here's another nasty effect of the silly price disparity. It creates a divide between the community, as those from the cheapest servers can't relate with those in the costly servers, and come here to mock them because they aren't really touched as much by the problem.

In summary: "We can't afford to pay for the hardware to run the player housing because we're one of the largest digital entertainment, amusement, publication and merchandising conglomerates in Japan and are completely incapable of the sort of foresight you'd expect from a five-year-old, so enjoy another ill-conceived content gating mechanism we Rube Goldberg'd together on a napkin at a sake bar."
Just want you to know that the investors are watching. Seen your stock prices today? 'Cause I'm looking at a 2.59% loss.
Ah yes, the name-calling. Of course. We're hysterical. How dare people voice their displeasure of not being able to enjoy a major content feature in a game they are paying money for. Do you approve of On Disc DLC, too? If the game is in such good hands, why is the pricing of housing partially based around a problem the devs can't even begin to put a dent in? Or do you not have RMT on Faerie, or Excalibur, or whatever server you come from? Must be nice.
And whether or not people forget about it is irrelevant and honestly I'm not even quite sure why mentioned it. If the prices are fixed, yes, people will forget. If they don't, those who are able to eventually afford houses will too. Those who can't, will not.
I have something to say to you Yoshida. I have been a big fan of you for a long time, I even have considered you one of the greatest producers the gaming industry has seen yet. So what I am about to say to you will help you become a better producer.
You have gotten everything in this game right. You have gotten alot of things perfect, and you continue to improve things beyond what any producer in the past of any game company has done for a game. You have made FFXIV succesful. You made someone (me) who canceled two accounts just before 1.0 release, resubscribe and play this game and enjoy every moment of this game.
So let us begin with what you dont know yet. You know gaming, storylines and many things. But you DO NOT KNOW housing.
Take a game as big as Skyrim, that sold just this last year, this game has sold millions of copies and was one of the most popular games of last year. If you look at how many players have download and created mod's for a single player off line Role playing game like skyrim, you must know that people love houses and housing in thier games.
Final Fantasy is at its roots a RPG. Skyrim is a RPG. Look at all true RPG games created in the last decade such as LOTRO and Everquest. You will find that housing has always played a huge factor in all these games. Look at Everquest Landmark coming out soon. It is a housing game that is so big that there is huge amounts of investments going into thier housing project, or look at Skyrim's Hearthfire expansion, because people love housing, most importantly RPG players love housing.
When you start to understand just how important housing is to RPG fans of the west, you'll see that housing itself is so big that it could make a game a huge success or break it in half. I have no doubt that people are starting to unsubscribe already after this patch release because of how housing was handled. I do not like to see this happen, and ask that you have a mind to make sure that housing does not turn this game into a deserted place because it was not given enough enlightened thought.
Because housing in MMORPG's have become so loved and wanted and sought out, this feature of the game is as important as any new dungeon or raids that you would put into a game. If we get this wrong, we get it all wrong and we will see this game lose players faster then 1.0. Please do not let this happen. Please find a way to allow all FC's that were created before the patch and had rank 5 be allowed to pay a low price for housing.
One great way you could do this is to look at all FC's that were created up till patch 2.1, and if there is enough housing for every single FC up to patch 2.1 to own a house, Why not allow all those pioneers of the server be able to buy a house at a cheap price, and make any FC's created after a certain date (2.1 if resonable) to have to pay a high price for housing to accomplish saving server space?
Anyway you look at it, your reply will not be enough for all the community, I have already started to hear, that you guys are allowing rich elite titan sellers buy houses and leaving FC's who are loyal and base of the community be steped on. This cannot and must not be the impression in the minds of the players. Surley there is something you can think of that will allow all small and big FC's to earn thier house besides with gil... Find something Yoshida, because this will ruin a successful game if you cannot.

Walk your 350 members (active) up to the red outline on a large lot and try to imagine 1/4 of that number on that property in it's entire volume at any one time, this entire housing patch cost etc. etc. seems to have about 30 seconds of thought put into it lol.
I think the prices you decided for the housing are, in a single word, MEAN.
They point right to the purpose of making them the most hard possible to be obtained by the current wealth situation.
You want to avoid welthiest people to get houses too easily? Why? Because this a competition amongst you and them?
Doing that, you are basically punishing whoever gathered the most money for being so good at doing it, and, AT THE SAME TIME, you are punishing EVEN MORE whoever didn't. You are stealing from the rich while stealing even more from the poor.
And you know why "poor people" didn't manage to get that much money?
Because they were focused ENJOYING YOUR GAME INSTEAD THAN MAKING MONEY.
Putting all that aside, you made three levels of housing. Small, medium and big.
You want the welthiest to sweat a lot? Keep the big one very high, alright.
But, for Eorzea's sake, keep the small one affordable by almost everyone.
Remember TOR? Same stuff was said there.Would it make you feel better if I made the same comment from an alt on Excalibur? Because I certainly would.
This game is in good hands, and this forum is full of hysterical babies.
Everyone will have forgotten that this was ever a big deal by the time the next content patch rolls around.
Simplest solution.............
1 deed per person per FC.
if you own a plot your FC cant buy one, if your FC own one you cant buy a deed for a plot.
this would obviously differ from personal housing when it arrives,
why would they allow anyone to buy more than 1 plot anyway.....................?
