I have only 250,000 to my name. I suspect the majority of players at any given time, will have on a single retainer, anywhere between 250,000 to 300,000 gil tops. Hundreds of millions of gil is not the norm, and one must question how someone even has that amount to begin with.

The thousands of people complaining about the prices compared to the small numbers defending them (with flawed arguments or no arguments at all) is a lot less subjective.

What is the percentage of those complaining about the prices? are those complains even justified? are they confusing FC housing with personal housing? or are they simply expecting to be able to afford housing at minimal cost to them?

The likes on any thread negative about the housing prices compared to those trying (and failing) to defend it in the name of mindless elitism are so overwhelming to be statistically relevant. You really should not need to ask that question.

Housing on most MMORPGs is provided with entry level tiers to allow most to experience the feature, which makes the feature effective at engaging players, which is the ultimate goal of every major featured added to a MMORPG, especially a P2P one. As it is the feature is simply a large load of wasted development resources, as it engages only a part of the population, and most probably not even a big one, which is a bad idea so close to launch, when games are always starved for features and for improving their engagement values to keep people subscribed.

Making large and largely publicized features into a luxury is simply bad design.
