So... you want to replace fates, an event where monsters spawn, and sometimes NPCs, and players must fight them and/or protect something... with an event where monsters spawn, sometimes NPCs, and players must fight them and/or protect something...? Fates ARE campaign battles.

A better analogy would be a apple pie with a lattice top and an apple pie with a solid top. Both are still apple pies but have slightly different presentation.
