There have been 5 emergency maintenance periods (all worlds) in the last 60 days. None of them lasted more than 4 hours... Exaggerate much?
Also, taking time off of work for a video game is addiction-related behavior... Just saying.
I might be mildly jelly of all these people with workplaces that let them take time off in the Christmas period. Mine wont let me have even a day off unless i broke both my legs and fell off a skyscraper into a pool of acid. And then I'd require the written opinions of 10 different doctors before they'll even consider it.

the maintance will be of a maximum of 24 hours, for patch and major changes to datacenters. Your prediction is wrong on a entire different basis.


I remember the last time SE did a 24 hr maintenance. It was a number years back in FFXI. I came up on time then crashed and burned after 1 hour of play. Down for another 24 hrs while they located and fixed the problems. With that in mind a couple of short emergency maintenances won't bother me.

Was there a major patch released in those 60 days with a host of new content? was there a sudden influx of players? No.
OP is right, and this will be similar to launch with maintenance every few hours for a couple of days at least. Brace yourselves.

Even if everything about the patch was smooth, I imagine you'd still have serious capacity issue on the instance servers, and if you do get in it'd be massively lagged, especially on any that uses the new check position every 0.1s since that obviously has to create even more server lag.
